1. Liver-Qi Invading the Spleen Type: occurs after diarrhea and mood changes, characterized by fullness and pain in the chest and flanks, diarrhea immediately after abdominal pain, pain relief after diarrhea, and constipation, with a thin white tongue coating and a thready pulse. The prescription is Xiaoyao Powder combined with Tongxie Yaofang with modifications. Add more white peony root and roasted licorice to relieve the urgency and stop diarrhea, and at the same time add betel nut and scorched three immortals to have both eliminating and replenishing effects.

2. Spleen deficiency with dampness type: characterized by fatigue, poor appetite, abdominal distension, intestinal rumbling, diarrhea, undigested food in stool, pale tongue with white coating, and weak pulse. The prescription is Shenling Baizhu San or Xiangsha Liujunzi Tang with modifications. If the condition is cold, add cinnamon and roasted ginger; if the condition is hot, add coptis chinensis, scutellaria baicalensis and roasted ginger to use both cold and warm effects.

3. Spleen and kidney deficiency type: This is the severe and difficult-to-treat stage of the disease, with a long course of illness, characterized by chills, pale complexion, sore waist and knees, intestinal rumbling and diarrhea mostly before dawn, or slippery diarrhea, diarrhea of ​​undigested food, pale tongue with white and slippery coating, and deep, thin and weak pulse. The prescription is Si Shen Wan combined with Lian Li Tang with modifications. Replace dried ginger with roasted ginger, and add black plum, water chestnut, and lindera scabra to warm the intestines.

4. Damp-heat descending type: It is the initial onset and attack of this disease, characterized by fever, abdominal pain, tenesmus, red, white, sticky, frozen or bloody diarrhea, red tongue with yellow greasy coating, and slippery and rapid pulse. The prescription is Baitouweng Decoction combined with Shaoyao Decoction with modifications. If the heat is severe, add honeysuckle and red vine; if the dampness is severe, add Magnolia officinalis and Atractylodes macrocephala.
