Causes and treatment of bronchiectasis and hemoptysis

Some patients with bronchiectasis will experience coughing up blood. Patients with coughing up blood should be examined and treated as soon as possible without delay. Generally, coughing up blood may be a complication of bronchiectasis, such as respiratory tract infection and sinusitis.

Bronchiectasis is caused by chronic suppurative inflammation and fibrosis of the bronchi and surrounding lung tissue, which destroys the muscle and elastic tissue of the bronchial wall, leading to bronchial deformation and persistent dilatation. Typical symptoms include chronic cough, coughing up large amounts of purulent sputum, and recurrent hemoptysis or coughing up blood. The main causes of the disease are bronchial infection, obstruction and traction, and some are congenital genetic factors. Most patients have a history of measles, whooping cough or bronchopneumonia.

The entire layer of the dilated bronchial wall is destroyed, and mucosal ulcers may occur, the ciliated columnar epithelium may become squamous or atrophic, the basal layer and cartilage may be damaged, the fibrous tissue may proliferate, and the lumen may become thinner, twisted and dilated. The dilated bronchi may be columnar, cystic, or both. Columnar ectasia is an early stage of cystic ectasia and may improve. Bronchiectasis, bronchial arteries and pulmonary arteries often dilate and anastomose, forming hemangiomas, whose rupture can cause recurrent severe hemoptysis.

Treatment options for bronchiectasis and hemoptysis:

1. Bronchiectasis and hemoptysis can be mild or severe depending on individual circumstances.

2. If we must talk about the best way to treat this disease, it is to prevent colds in time and go to a regular hospital's respiratory department for regular treatment.

3. There is no good medicine to treat this. It depends on the condition of the disease.

4. Is it better to see a Chinese doctor or a Western doctor for bronchiectasis and hemoptysis? Western medicine should be used as the main treatment in the acute phase; in the stable phase, Chinese medicine or a combination of Chinese and Western medicine can be used.
