How is liver disease detected

Liver disease seriously affects the patient's physical health, so we should pay attention to prevention in daily life and pay attention to understanding how to check. The most common ones are blood tests for liver function, B-ultrasound examinations, or hepatitis B HBV-DNA tests.

1. Take blood samples to test liver function. This test can let you know whether your liver function is damaged, that is, whether the transaminase, bilirubin, and globulin are elevated, and whether the albumin is decreased.

2. Ultrasound examination. This test can tell whether the liver is gradually shrinking or the spleen is gradually enlarging. B-ultrasound examination requires dynamic observation to be more meaningful, that is, the results of liver, gallbladder and spleen B-ultrasounds taken several times before and after can be compared with each other to discover problems. Many patients throw away the report after each B-ultrasound examination, so the comparison work cannot be carried out well.

3. “Hepatitis B two-pair-and-a-half” test. Also known as the five items of hepatitis B, the first pair refers to the surface antigen and surface antibody. The second pair is e antigen and e antibody. "Half" refers to the core antibody. This "two pairs and a half" roughly reflects the situation of hepatitis B virus infection in the body. In order to fully understand the infection situation, it is necessary to cooperate with HBV-DNA testing, so as to better reflect the replication of the virus in the body.

4. Hepatitis B HBV-DNA test. It is the latest method of detecting hepatitis B. Its clinical significance is to understand the amount of hepatitis B virus in the body; whether the virus is replicating; whether the patient can infect others and how contagious it is; whether it is necessary to take medication to control the disease; whether the abnormal changes in liver function are caused by the virus, as well as to determine which type of antiviral drug is suitable for the patient and the efficacy of drug treatment, etc.

5. Alpha-fetoprotein (AFP). This item is to check liver cancer markers. AFP can increase significantly before ultrasound, CT, and MRI find any liver mass, and can detect primary liver cancer in the ultra-early stage. This is currently recognized by the medical community as the most effective method for ultra-early detection of primary liver cancer, and it is also a mature technology.
