What happens if pulpitis is not treated?

The treatment of pulpitis cannot be ignored. Oral medication is a common treatment, but whether it is effective depends on the patient's condition. If it is painful, the use of analgesics is necessary.

1. You can take oral medications for treatment and pay attention to rest. If the effect is not good, it is recommended to decide which medication to change based on the situation. Check regularly and if the condition continues to worsen, seek medical attention early.

2. Choose local analgesics and soak a small cotton ball into the caries cavity or deep hole pocket to achieve analgesic effect.

3. If it is acute pulpitis, the situation will be more serious. It is generally not easy to achieve the purpose of pain relief by taking analgesics. The most effective way is to open the pulp cavity to allow the inflammatory products and pus to flow out, reduce the pressure in the pulp cavity, and quickly relieve the pain. Teeth with pulpitis should be surgically removed by a dentist, and the pulp cavity should be disinfected. The tooth should be filled after the symptoms disappear in order to preserve the affected tooth. If not properly treated, pulpitis may develop into apical abscess or even skull osteomyelitis, and the affected tooth will have to be extracted.

4. Acute pulpitis is the most painful type of toothache. The pain point is obvious, the painful area will be swollen, and the tooth cannot be bitten at all. When the dentist cannot control the swelling and pain after using anti-inflammatory drugs and analgesics, the only option is root canal therapy. This is the worst painful toothache.
