What are the causes of pulpitis?

It is important to understand the cause of pulpitis. The most common cause is oral infection. Because the oral area is easily invaded by bacteria, it is easy to induce tooth decay. If it is not relieved, it may lead to bacterial invasion and cause pulpitis.

1. Infection: There are many bacteria in our mouths, which coexist with humans under normal circumstances. When teeth are decayed, traumatized, cracked, or have periodontal lesions, bacteria enter the pulp cavity through the defective tissue and cause pulp lesions. Another situation is that bacteria enter the blood circulation from other parts of the human body, flow to the dental pulp through the blood circulation, and cause dental pulp lesions.

2. Chemical stimulation: This is mainly caused by dentists choosing inappropriate drugs when treating dental diseases, or using materials containing acidic or toxic substances when repairing teeth.

3. Physical stimulation: Sudden changes in the temperature of the oral cavity, such as drinking hot water or hot soup, or eating too cold food immediately, can cause congestion of the dental pulp and further lead to dental pulp lesions. In addition, when dentists treat caries, they use high-speed dental drills to cut teeth, which produces thermal stimulation and can also cause changes.

4. Pulpitis can be effectively treated with root canal therapy. The principle of root canal therapy is to remove most of the infected substances in the root canal by mechanical and chemical methods, and to prevent the occurrence of periapical lesions or promote the healing of periapical lesions that have already occurred by filling the root canal and sealing the crown.
