Many people may not know that there is an area in our eyes called the macula. This location exists in the retina and is very important. It directly determines our judgment of color and the organization and synthesis of scene colors. Therefore, if there is a problem in this part, it will cause macular edema in our fundus and our vision will decrease. 1. How to prevent macular edema 1. Pay attention to rest and don't overuse your eyes to avoid forming myopia. Avoid staring at something and pay attention to blinking frequently and completely. Frequent blinking can reduce the time your eyes are exposed to the air and prevent tears from evaporating. Eat more fruits of all kinds, especially citrus fruits, and also eat more green vegetables, grains, fish and eggs. Drinking plenty of water can also help relieve dry eyes. Maintaining good living habits, getting enough sleep, and not staying up late are what you need to do to prevent macular degeneration. 2. Patients should eat more fish. Patients who ate fish one to three times a month were half as likely to have macular deterioration as those who ate fish less than once a month. For this reason, eating fish also has a definite protective effect on macular degeneration, but patients should not eat too much fish. Eating fish once a week is best. 3. Avoid operating the computer continuously for long periods of time. Take breaks in between. Usually, operate the computer for 1 hour and then take a 5-10 minute break. When resting, you can look into the distance or do eye exercises. If your eyes become red, feel burned or have a foreign body sensation, your eyelids become heavy, your vision becomes blurred, or you even experience eye pain or headaches, and there is no significant improvement after rest, then you need to go to the hospital. Actively treat the primary disease. Usually be careful not to expose strong light directly to your eyes. Also prevent eye injuries. 4. Don't smoke regularly. Eat a reasonable diet and eat more green leafy vegetables and less high-fat foods. Also, exercise appropriately to control weight gain and blood viscosity. You need to take some antioxidants, and also pay attention to the supplementation of vitamins and carotene, etc. This should also be avoided to prevent macular degeneration. 2. How to treat macular edema Drug treatment is ineffective, and laser photocoagulation is currently an effective method for treating choroidal neovascularization. In the active stage, laser treatment can be performed if the lesion is located outside the central 1/4PD of the macula. Photodynamic surgery can only treat symptoms but cannot fundamentally cure macular degeneration. Macular lesions are mainly caused by a lack of lutein in the eyes, which leads to macular atrophy and decreased vision. Photodynamic therapy can only repair the macula, but cannot increase macular density or improve vision. Therefore, at present, patients take soft capsules to supplement lutein while undergoing photodynamic therapy, so as to achieve the effect of treating both the symptoms and the root cause and improve the cure rate. |
