What is the cause of thin earwax and what is it related to?

The condition of earwax can reflect the health of the human body, and the dryness of earwax is also related to many aspects of the human body. Compared with the developed glands of humans, the earwax is secreted too much and the earwax becomes thin. If water enters the ear canal when washing your hair, it will also cause the earwax to become thinner.

Earwax is medically called cerumen. It is a waxy substance formed by a mixture of cerumen secreted by the cerumen glands, sebum secreted by the sebaceous glands and the desquamated epithelium of the skin of the external auditory canal. The latter can inhibit fungi and bacteria in the external auditory canal and has a strong bactericidal effect on some fungi. The substances secreted by the glands are generally liquid, but they become waxy because they are mixed with some shed skin. After some evaporation, they finally dry up and are discharged from the external auditory canal through the movement of the temporomandibular joint.

The reasons for the degree of dryness are:

1. The degree of development of the individual's glands. If the secretion is too much, it will naturally be thinner.

2. How long does earwax stay in the external auditory canal? The longer it stays, the drier it becomes.

3. When washing your hair or taking a bath, water enters through the external auditory canal, which can also make the earwax thinner.

In addition, this is also related to genetics. Some people have loose earwax. In this case, it is best not to dig it out forcefully. It is recommended to go to the hospital and let the doctor perform professional cleaning. On the one hand, it can safely relieve pain, and on the other hand, it can also check whether it is caused by other reasons, so as to eliminate the cause as soon as possible.
