How to make knee pads at home

Knee problems have been affecting people for many years. In fact, people will have more or less knee pain when they get older. Some people will go for a check-up and find out that they have knee degeneration or cartilage tissue damage. In addition, neuroligament diseases can also cause knee problems. In fact, you need to take care of your knees regularly at home, regardless of whether the condition is serious or not. So how do you do knee protection at home?

Knee pain is distressing, especially for patients over 40 years old. If they go for X-ray examination, they will often see more or less cartilage destruction, and they are probably diagnosed with "degenerative" knee arthritis.

In fact, degenerative knee arthritis is not degeneration, but friction. To be precise, it is the medial friction syndrome caused by the medial friction phenomenon. Through these three knee protection exercises, you can increase the dynamic stability of the joint and protect the cartilage.

Degenerative knee arthritis is not degeneration, but friction

Cartilage is not easily injured or degraded unless its structure is damaged, including damage to the meniscus, cruciate ligament, or even fracture due to excessive intense exercise. Once the stability of the knee is affected, the cartilage will be affected and gradually damaged. This is medically called traumatic osteoarthritis, accounting for about 10% of patients with degenerative knee arthritis; however, the vast majority of people have never been injured, accounting for 90% of patients with degenerative knee arthritis, but why do their knee joints still degenerate?

Based on long-term observations, the real cause of pain in 90% of these patients is not degeneration, but the vast majority of them suffer from "medial friction syndrome" caused by friction between the medial folds and joints.

After the age of 50, the medial folds become worn, inflamed, and destroy the articular cartilage.

Why does friction between the medial crease and the joint cause knee pain? Because the medial fold is a fold that remains in the synovial cavity of the knee joint during embryonic development, and its appearance resembles the folds of clothes.

The average normal person's knee bends up to a million times a year. Every time the knee bends and straightens, the medial fold and the medial femoral condyle will rub against each other, causing physical and chemical damage. With age, the medial fold and the medial femoral condyle rub against each other tens of millions of times. If you are engaged in activities or work that requires repeated bending and straightening of the knee, the number of frictions will be even greater.

Therefore, the inner folds that were originally as tender as fresh loofah will eventually become as rough as a sponge after years of friction. When people are young, the medial folds are smooth, thin and translucent; when they are in their 30s or 40s, the medial folds begin to become fibrotic, gradually lose their elasticity and become hard; after the age of 50, wear and inflammation begin to appear, and the damage to the articular cartilage increases year by year.

Cycling, climbing stairs, and running cause the knee joint to bend at a large angle, making the cartilage more susceptible to injury.

Beyond 60 degrees, there will be complete sliding motion with damaging friction. When humans move naturally, such as walking and running, during the stress-bearing standing phase, the bending angle of the knee joint does not exceed 30 degrees, and the cartilage will not be injured.

However, activities resulting from the development of civilization, such as riding a bicycle and climbing stairs, often exceed the bending angle that can be protected by the four-bar linkage. Acutely inflamed medial folds are constantly corroding the cartilage, and even the slightest bending can cause pinching and aggravate the pain symptoms.

Degenerative knee arthritis is no longer an untreatable disease. As long as the medial friction syndrome caused by medial friction can be diagnosed early, there is a chance of cure.

3 ways to protect your knees from knee joint degeneration

For patients with "medial friction syndrome", doctors have specially designed a set of exercises to promote knee joint health. There are only three movements, including: one group is quadriceps strengthening exercises to exercise muscle strength, and the other two groups are knee hugging exercises and knee pressing exercises. They can increase the flexibility of the knee joint, strengthen the muscle strength near the joint, and increase the dynamic stability of the joint, thereby protecting the cartilage and preventing knee joint degeneration.
