What causes diarrhea and bloody stools?

Diarrhea and bloody stools must be taken seriously, because the occurrence of this problem may indicate the impact of various gastrointestinal diseases. Colon polyps or amoebic dysentery usually cause diarrhea or bloody stools.

① Colon polyps: a. Juvenile colon polyposis, the average age of onset is 6 years old, there is no family history, the main manifestation is bloody stool, often accompanied by malnutrition, anemia, hypoproteinemia and growth retardation, and often accompanied by congenital malformations, such as intestinal malrotation, umbilical hernia and cerebral edema; b. Familial juvenile colon polyposis: there is a family history, the symptoms are common features of bloody stool, rectal prolapse and growth retardation; c. Cronknite? Canda syndrome (CCS): It is a hamartoma polyposis syndrome, which develops in adults, with bloody stool, diarrhea, large stool volume, and may contain fat, accompanied by abdominal pain, anorexia, fatigue, vomiting, libido and loss of taste. There are almost always nail changes, hair loss, and hyperpigmentation.

②Colon cancer: It is common in the left half of the colon. Most patients have stubborn constipation and may also have increased frequency of bowel movements. When the tumor ruptures, the surface of the stool may be stained with blood or mucus, or even pus may be discharged.

(3) Chronic nonspecific ulcerative colitis and bacillary dysentery: Both can cause blood in the stool, which is often discharged together with mucus or pus, accompanied by abdominal pain.

(4) Amebic dysentery: The main symptom is blood in the stool. The stool is maroon in color, contains a lot of mucus, and has a foul odor.

(5) Hemorrhagic Escherichia coli enteritis: It presents with acute onset, accompanied by fever, diarrhea, and a history of eating rotten meat. It often presents as food poisoning.
