What do chief cells secrete

What do chief cells secrete

There are countless cells in the human body, and these cells play a very important role inside the body. Among them, chief cells are the most common type of cell in the human body. For example, this type of cell is distributed in the human stomach and around the thyroid gland. This also shows that chief cells play a very important role in the human body. The role played by the master cells in each part is also different. Today's article will explain to you the role played by the master cells in each part.

Chief cells, also known as gastric enzyme cells, are distributed in the lower half of the fundus glands.

Stomach

Chief cell: also known as zymogenic cell, distributed in the lower half of the fundic gland. The cells are columnar with round nuclei located at the base. The base of the cell is strongly alkaliphilic and the top is filled with zymogen granules, but in ordinary fixed chromosome specimens, most of the granules are dissolved, making this area lightly colored. The granules contain pepsinogen, which is released by exocytosis and activated by hydrochloric acid to become active pepsin, which participates in the initial digestion of protein.

Parathyroid gland

Chief cells: the largest in number, polygonal in shape, with round nuclei centered in the center, and lightly stained cytoplasm by HE staining. It mainly secretes parathyroid hormone, which mainly acts on osteocytes and osteoclasts to dissolve bone salts and promote calcium absorption by the intestines and renal tubules, thereby increasing blood calcium. Under the joint regulation of parathyroid hormone and calcitonin, the body maintains the stability of blood calcium. [1]

Kidney

Chief cells of the epithelium of the distal convoluted tubule and collecting duct. Function: Reabsorb sodium ions (mainly through sodium ion channels) and water, and secrete potassium ions.
