What are the methods to remove formaldehyde?

After the new house was renovated, the formaldehyde smell was very unpleasant, it was really distressing! How to remove formaldehyde is the most worrying issue for every homeowner. They are most afraid that the smell of the newly renovated house will harm the health of their family. It is actually not difficult to remove the smell of formaldehyde. Today, I will teach you several methods to remove formaldehyde!

1. Ventilation method

There is no need to explain the ventilation method in detail. It is a simple and effective method to discharge harmful gases to the outside. However, its only drawback is that it takes a long time. For me, time is money.

2. Purple plus black decomposition method

Purple and black is actually a kind of mineral crystal soaked in a high concentration of potassium permanganate solution, which decomposes formaldehyde into carbon dioxide and water through oxidation. This is a method that is currently highly recommended by environmental protection and life circle experts. Another kind of mineral crystal relies on its natural nano-scale lattice gap, high specific surface area (large number of pores), high permeability, and polarity on the pore surface to adsorb benzene ammonia TVOC, thereby achieving the effect of purifying indoor air.

3. Activated carbon adsorption method

Activated carbon uses its internal pore structure to adsorb harmful gases in the air. However, activated carbon will reach adsorption saturation within three days. After adsorption saturation, it will become a new source of pollution releasing harmful gases into the air, and does not fundamentally solve the harmful gas pollution.

4. Air purifier removes formaldehyde

All purification efficiency calculations of air purifiers are completed in the laboratory and are measured under the condition of excluding continuous pollution sources. In other words, these data are obtained under specific conditions. Therefore, in actual use, the purification efficiency will be lower than what the manufacturers claim.

In essence, air purifiers only play an auxiliary and remedial role. For example, when the indoor air is already polluted, using an air purifier can reduce the degree of pollution to a certain extent, but it does not mean that it can fundamentally eliminate air pollution.
