The spine is regarded as the most important part of the skeleton because it has many functions. It includes not only the lumbar vertebrae, but also the thoracic vertebrae and cervical vertebrae. Therefore, the health of the spine is unified with the health of these three parts. The spine is very prone to injury in modern life. For example, spinal ligament injury is relatively common and can be very harmful. Let’s take a look at the symptoms of spinal ligament injury. symptom: 1. Immediately after birth, the child will have a cystic mass protruding on the posterior longitudinal axis of the spine. It is round or oval in shape and varies in size. Some have a thin neck or stalk, while others have a larger base and no neck. The mass often increases in size with age. The surface skin may be normal or thin and easily broken. Some are thin and translucent. If the mass contains cerebrospinal fluid, it will be transparent when illuminated by a flashlight. If the mass contains spinal cord, nerve tissue, etc., it will not be transparent when illuminated by a flashlight or the shadow of the tissue inside the mass may be visible. When the child cries, the mass becomes more tense and harder. When the child is quiet, the mass on the back is soft and has low tension. The edge of the bone defect can be felt at the base of the mass, indicating that the cyst communicates with the spinal canal. If the child is in a quiet state, the mass has high tension, the anterior fontanelle is bulging, and there may be signs of hydrocephalus at the same time. 2. Careful examination may reveal weakness in the child's lower limbs or foot deformities. There may be no response or a weak response when the child's lower limbs or feet are pricked with a needle. When the child is a little older, incontinence may be found. In severe cases, both lower limbs may be completely flaccid. 3. Spinal ligament injury causes spinal cord exposure, which can be seen after the baby is born. There is no local mass, but there is cerebrospinal fluid leakage, often accompanied by severe neurological dysfunction, and the baby cannot survive. 4. Partial spinal ligament injuries may cause patchy hairy areas or fine soft hairs, or patchy vascular nevi on the affected skin. The skin color of some affected areas is very dark, such as brown, black, or red. Sometimes latent pores can be seen on the spinal axis. Some are actually sinus openings, and mucus or bean curd-like secretions are squeezed out when pressed. There are often dermoid or epithelioid tumors in the spinal canal. Occult fissures can cause low back pain, enuresis, lower limb weakness or lower limb neuralgia, but most cases have no symptoms. |
