What are the symptoms of burn wound infection?

Burns are actually very common in life, but many friends don’t know how to deal with them. If skin burns are not treated promptly or accurately, it can easily cause wound infection, inflammation or pus formation. If the burn area is large and you don’t know how to deal with it, you must seek medical treatment immediately.

Scalds are injuries caused by high-temperature liquids (eg, boiling water, hot oil), high-temperature solids (burning metals, etc.) or high-temperature steam. The most important thing for burn wounds is to shave the hair in the injured area and the vicinity, and cut off excessively long nails. The wound surface is cleaned with isotonic saline to remove foreign matter, dirt, etc. Protect small blisters from being damaged. For large blisters, use an empty injection needle to draw out the blister fluid, or cut them at a low position to release the blister fluid. For broken blisters or those with severe contamination, the blister skin should be cut off, the wound surface should be gently rolled open with gauze, covered with a layer of liquid paraffin gauze or a thin layer of vaseline gauze, plus multiple layers of absorbent gauze and cotton pads, and bandaged with a bandage to apply even pressure. Burns can also be treated with bandage therapy, exposure therapy, etc.

symptom

There are three degrees of burns.

First-degree injuries and burns only damage the surface of the skin, causing mild local redness and swelling, no blisters, and obvious pain. You should immediately take off your clothes and socks, soak the wound in cold water for half an hour, and then apply sesame oil or vegetable oil to the wound.

Second-degree injuries and burns are dermis injuries, with local redness, swelling and pain, and blisters of varying sizes. Large blisters can be punctured with a sterilized needle to drain the water from the edge of the blister, then applied with burn ointment and bandaged with appropriate tightness.

Third-degree injuries and burns occur under the skin, and the fat, muscles, and bones are all damaged, and are gray or reddish-brown in color. At this time, you should wrap the wound with a clean cloth and send the patient to the hospital immediately. Do not apply gentian violet or ointment on the wound, as this will affect the observation and treatment of the disease.

Patients with severe injuries or burns may go into shock or respiratory or cardiac arrest during transfer, and should be given artificial respiration or external cardiac massage immediately. When the injured person is thirsty, you can give him a small amount of hot tea or light salt water. Never let him drink a large amount of boiled water in a short period of time, which may cause cerebral edema.

Treatment medication

1. Quickly avoid heat sources;

2. Take "cold heat dissipation" measures, continuously rinse the injured area with cold water under the faucet, or soak the injured area in a container of cold water for 30 minutes, until the pain is significantly relieved after being separated from the cold source. This can quickly and thoroughly dissipate heat from the injured area, cause the skin blood vessels to contract, reduce exudation and edema, relieve pain, reduce blister formation, and prevent scars from forming on the wound. This is the best and most feasible treatment option after burns and scalds;

3. Cut open the clothes covering the wound to avoid worsening the burn;

4. Do not use colored liquid medicines such as red medicine and purple medicine on the wound surface, so as not to affect the doctor's judgment of the depth of the burn. Do not apply alkaline noodles, sauce wine, toothpaste, etc. randomly, so as not to cause infection;

5. Blisters can be punctured at a low position with a sterile needle. The wound surface should be covered and protected with a sterile dressing or clean clothes during transportation;
