What are the symptoms of palpitations and shortness of breath?

Palpitations and shortness of breath are situations that many friends will experience in life. When such phenomena occur, the body will have obvious discomfort. If the situation is slightly more serious, it will also affect the patient's normal life and requires timely examination and treatment. There are many causes of palpitations and shortness of breath, such as pulmonary embolism, coronary heart disease, emphysema, etc.

Palpitations and shortness of breath: A symptom of conscious uneasiness in the heart, commonly known as "palpitations" or "heartbeats". Chinese medicine calls it "palpitations" or "palpitations". It can be seen in people with coronary heart disease, hypertension, rheumatic heart disease, cor pulmonale, heart failure, various arrhythmias, cardiac neurosis, and other functional or organic heart diseases, as well as in people with anemia and hyperthyroidism. Palpitations and shortness of breath may be related to mood, age, or may be caused by heart or brain diseases. Commonly seen as an associated symptom of sinus tachycardia.

Anxiety syndrome is the most common symptom at work. It is more difficult to adjust, similar to the second point, and is generally a sublimation of the second point. It is suggested that you can go shopping more often after work, or even just walk on the street, take a stroll, listen to music, and feel happy.

1. Pulmonary embolism:

It is more common in valvular heart disease, lower limb thrombophlebitis, cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases and after surgery. It is caused by the detachment of blood clots blocking the pulmonary artery. If symptoms such as difficulty breathing, chest pain, cough, and hemoptysis occur, you need to be alert.

2. Coronary heart disease:

When the coronary artery blood supply is incomplete, the elderly often feel chest tightness and shortness of breath. It is best to have an electrocardiogram in time.

3. Emphysema:

When suffering from chronic respiratory diseases, ventilation is obstructed, resulting in alveolar enlargement, decreased elasticity, and impaired lung function. This is seen in patients with long-term chronic bronchitis, bronchiectasis, bronchial asthma, tuberculosis, etc. Symptoms include breathing difficulties, which are aggravated by the slightest activity, weak coughing, and difficulty in coughing up phlegm. It should be detected early and the infection controlled in time to avoid respiratory failure.

4. Left heart failure:

It is more common in hypertension, coronary heart disease, valvular heart disease, etc. The precursor symptoms are that the person likes to gradually raise the pillow when sleeping, and is often awakened by chest tightness and shortness of breath. Sudden onset of nocturnal dyspnea is a typical symptom of left heart failure. In severe cases, asthma may occur due to difficulty breathing.

5. Spontaneous pneumothorax:

It is a common and serious complication of bullae, emphysema, and tuberculosis. When sudden severe chest pain and dyspnea occur on one side, careful observation can reveal a bulging chest contour and widening of the intercostals on the affected side. When tapping the pneumothorax on one side, there is a sound like beating a drum. Avoid severe coughing and get checked promptly.
