2. Western medicine for pain relief

Analgesics are drugs that can partially or completely relieve pain. There are two types of analgesics: non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs and centrally acting analgesics. Common painkillers include aspirin, analgesics, paracetamol, phenylbutazone, rofecoxib, etc.

Painkillers should be taken in moderation. If you take painkillers blindly and prematurely, although it can temporarily relieve pain, it will mask the location and nature of the pain, making it difficult for doctors to observe the condition and determine the affected area, and it will be difficult for doctors to make a correct diagnosis and timely treatment. In daily life, when encountering various pains, people often take painkillers without guidance. Reasonable use of painkillers can relieve pain, but if used for a long time, especially abused, it will cause serious damage to human health. There are many types of painkillers, mainly divided into the following categories: The first category is non-steroidal anti-inflammatory analgesics. Commonly used ones include aspirin, ibuprofen, indomethacin, paracetamol, phenylbutazone, rofecoxib, celecoxib, etc. It has a relatively weak analgesic effect, is non-addictive, is widely used, and has definite efficacy. It is used for common pains, but if used improperly, it can also cause harm to human health. The second category is centrally acting analgesics. Tramadol, for example, is a synthetic central nervous system analgesic, a Class II psychotropic drug, and a non-narcotic analgesic. The analgesic effect of tramadol is stronger than that of general antipyretic analgesics, but not as strong as narcotic analgesics. Its analgesic effect is 1/10 of that of morphine. It is mainly used for various moderate acute pains and postoperative pain. The third category is narcotic analgesics. Representatives include opioids such as morphine and pethidine. These drugs have a strong analgesic effect, but long-term use can cause addiction. This type of drug has a strict management system and cannot be used casually. It is mainly used for patients with advanced cancer. In addition to the above three types of painkillers, there are other painkillers, such as Chinese herbal compound painkillers, scopolamine used for intestinal cramps and abdominal pain, etc. There are certain "certainties" about what kind of painkiller to use under what circumstances. For common neck, shoulder, waist and leg pains, non-steroidal anti-inflammatory analgesics should be the first choice, such as ibuprofen, voltaren, etc.; if fever is accompanied by headache or toothache, etc., antipyretic and analgesic drugs such as aspirin, indomethacin, etc. can be used. For patients with severe gastrointestinal diseases, non-steroidal drugs that are less irritating to the gastrointestinal tract can be used. Central analgesics should only be considered when non-steroidal drugs are ineffective. The above people should not choose opioid painkillers. Pain relief for patients with advanced cancer should follow the principle of step-by-step treatment, from nonsteroidal drugs to central analgesics, and finally opioids.
