What is the procedure for intravenous infusion?

Infusion is a relatively traditional treatment method. Different from injections, the time and dosage of infusion are very long. Generally, the infusion time is more than half an hour. The liquid in the medicine bottle is mixed with sufficient medicine to gradually enter the blood, and finally reach the lesion site to eliminate inflammation. Infusion usually starts from the vein. Let’s take a look at the operation process of intravenous infusion.

1. Inspection and verification: Check the packaging, production date, and expiration date of the treatment tray and infusion set. The validity period of iodine tincture and cotton swab treatment tray.

Check and verify the production date, expiration date, liquid quality, drug name, dosage, patient's bed number and name of the medicine. After checking that everything is correct, prepare the items and push the treatment cart to the ward.

2. Exhaust: Explain to the patient that he will receive an infusion and ask him to prepare himself. He checked the patient again, took out the infusion set, tore open the package, inserted the large needle into the medicine bottle, held the Murphy's tube upside down, and hung it on the infusion stand to exhaust the air. Watch for air ingress.

3. Disinfection: Ask the patient to take a comfortable position, put on a treatment towel, find a suitable vein, and use a cotton swab dipped in disinfectant for the first disinfection. The disinfection diameter should be more than 5 cm. Tie a tourniquet, 6 cm away from the puncture point, and disinfect for the second time. The second disinfection is less anti-counterfeiting than the first.

4. Acupuncture: Expel air again and a few drops of medicine will flow out of the needle. Check the patient.

Ask the patient to clench his fist and tighten the skin. The needle should be inserted at an angle of 15-30 degrees. After bleeding occurs, the needle should be inserted 0.2 cm further.

Fixation: Ask the patient to relax his fist, fix the needle firmly with an infusion patch, adjust the drip rate, fill in the infusion card and sign. Remove treatment towels and tourniquets, and sort garbage.

5. Tube removal: Check the patient and the medicine again, clamp the infusion tube, remove the infusion patch, place a cotton swab above the needle hole, quickly pull out the needle and ask the patient to press for a moment, clean up the supplies, and place them in categories.

Note:

The principles of aseptic operation must be followed during the operation. Be confident and don't shake your hands. If you are scared, the patient will be more scared.
