What's wrong with the fleshy pimples on the corners of my mouth?

A fleshy pimple, as the name suggests, is a large pimple, as serious as acne, which can directly affect a person's facial appearance and life. They usually grow in many places, mainly in the corners of the mouth and inside the mouth. The ones that grow outside the corners of the mouth are most likely caused by excessive heat in the body or unclean facial hygiene. There are many reasons for pimples to grow in the mouth. This article mainly introduces what causes pimples on the mouth.

Ulcers often occur in the mouth, but some patients have lumps of flesh in their mouths. What is going on?

1. Oral polyps

A lump of flesh inside the mouth may be an oral polyp, the so-called. The so-called oral polyps are tumors formed by localized proliferation of the oral mucosa.

What to do: Polyps are usually caused by trauma or long-term inflammation, resulting in the proliferation of granulation tissue. Generally speaking, they can be removed surgically, but there is also the possibility of recurrence.

2. Mucous gland cyst

A lump of flesh inside the mouth may be a mucocele, which is a superficial cyst formed by obstruction of the duct of the small salivary glands in the oral mucosa and retention of secretory fluid. This type of cyst is generally benign. Although it is not life-threatening, it can easily cause a foreign body sensation in the mouth and cause discomfort to the patient.

Main characteristics: Soybean-sized, no pain or itching, a slight foreign body sensation, and the water in the pimple feels a bit sticky when it flows out.

What to do: This type of cyst is often considered for surgical removal, which causes less pain. However, the damaged glands left behind after the operation will inevitably cause saliva retention again, inducing recurrence of the mucosal cyst.

3. Ectopic sebaceous glands in the mouth

A lump of flesh inside the mouth may be ectopic sebaceous gland, a disease caused by physiological deformation of sebaceous gland development and sebaceous gland hyperplasia. This disease not only occurs in the oral mucosa, but is also common in the foreskin and glans of men, and the labia majora and minora of women.

Symptom characteristics: The lesions are characterized by millet-sized flat papule-like lesions with no obvious skin protrusions. They are distributed in clusters and are usually asymptomatic. Generally, no treatment is required.

4. Oral tumors

Oral cancer is a general term for malignant tumors that occur in the oral cavity. If a lump grows inside the mouth and grows rapidly, it is often considered to be an oral mucosal tumor. This tumor is a solid growth that arises from the mucosa and protrudes outward. Its size, shape, and color vary. Most of them are malignant tumors.

Note: Benign tumors have a more regular surface and are more mobile when palpated; malignant tumors are often more fixed, with an irregular surface and ulcers.
