Rhinoplasty is a relatively common surgery. Many people choose to have rhinoplasty to make their nose look more upright. In addition, with the current advanced medical technology, rhinoplasty is almost risk-free. Rhinoplasty is roughly divided into two types. One is to use prosthesis filling, and the other is to use one's own rib cartilage to perform rhinoplasty. Compared with prosthetic rhinoplasty, rib cartilage rhinoplasty is definitely much better. However, before the operation, many people may wonder whether rib cartilage rhinoplasty will bring some sequelae? 1. It is easy to cause pneumothorax For autologous cartilage transplant rhinoplasty, the costal cartilage is placed in a straight line at the bridge of the nose. There are several ways to obtain costal cartilage. Since costal cartilage has the instinct to bend, it was previously taken from a higher position, mainly the fourth or fifth rib. The costal cartilage a little higher is less likely to bend, but the disadvantage is that high-positioned costal cartilage is not easy to obtain, and the process is also prone to causing pneumothorax problems. 2. Curved nose The risk of rib cartilage rhinoplasty is delayed rotation, which often troubles doctors. Rotation usually occurs between a few hours and six weeks after surgery, causing the bridge of the nose to appear bent. It is safer to take the lower costal cartilages between 7 and 9, but there is a greater chance of rotation. Therefore, some Korean doctors advocate making horizontal notches on the costal cartilages to offset the force of rotation. Dr. Chen Jianye said that the solution to costal cartilage torsion is to insert a metal called k-wire in the middle of the costal cartilage to inhibit the torsion. However, inserting a foreign steel bar into an autologous graft is something that many doctors and patients cannot tolerate. Some doctors also say that the steel bar will protrude. Another problem is deviation. If the patient has undergone silicone rhinoplasty, after it is removed, the straight-shaped costal cartilage will deviate after being inserted because there is too much space. Deflection is a straight movement to one side, and torsion is a C-shaped bend. 3. Leave scars However, removing rib cartilage will leave a scar of about 3-4 cm on the chest, which can be a problem for women. Currently, the first human allogeneic rib cartilage transplant rhinoplasty surgery in the Chinese world was completed in February last year. The donated rib cartilage is irradiated with gamma rays and processed with high technology to prevent immune rejection reactions. This is good news for plastic surgery patients who do not want to undergo surgery on their chest. |
