Can you still eat durian if it's soft and rotten?

Everyone loves to eat durian. Although durian does not smell that good, it is still rich in nutrients. However, if the durian flesh becomes soft and looks rotten, it cannot be eaten. Otherwise, it may cause some odor in the gastrointestinal tract. It is best to eat more fresh durian flesh, and try to choose some durian that looks rounder in shape.

1. When choosing a durian, first look at its appearance. Yellow means it’s ripe, while green means it’s raw.

2. Use two fingers to push the durian thorns inwards. If they feel elastic and the two thorns can be moved inwards, then the durian is almost ripe.

3. Press down on the durian skin with your hand. If it is elastic, it means the skin is thin. If the skin is thick, you cannot press it.

4. Look at the tip of the durian. It’s best if there are fine cracks, as this is a sign that the durian is ripe. If the durian is raw, you can't cut it even with a kitchen knife.

5. Choose a durian that is round in shape, with each bulge protruding as much as possible.

6. Smell it with your nose. The ripe durian smells very fragrant (if you can eat it, it smells fragrant, but if you can’t eat it, it smells stinky). If it smells like wine, it is overripe and not delicious.

7. Durian is a tropical fruit, very nutritious, and can easily cause internal heat. It also makes people gain weight easily. People who are losing weight should not eat durian, and it is also best not to eat durian after 9 o'clock in the evening.

8. How to open a durian: Use the tip of a kitchen knife to gently push at the tip of the durian to make a crack. Do not take out all of them at once. Open as many as you can eat. Open one bud at a time. It won't go bad if you leave it outside, but it's best to wrap it in plastic wrap as it attracts a certain kind of small insects. Don't put it in the refrigerator because the smell is too strong. (It is clearly stated on the plane that durian is not allowed on board).

9. If the petals turn yellow, the durian may have rotted.

Eat durian but not seafood

Although ordinary people would not taste seafood when eating durian, anything can happen. Seafood is a cold food, while durian is the opposite. If you eat them together, it will cause severe gastrointestinal discomfort.
