What does myocardial infarction mean

Heart disease is a high-incidence disease. Every year, more than 200,000 people die from heart disease. Middle-aged and elderly people are more susceptible to heart disease. Myocardial infarction is a type of heart disease. Once a patient with myocardial infarction develops the disease, he or she must be cured in time, so take some quick-acting heart-saving pills. If rescue is not timely, it will cause the patient's death. Let me introduce to you what the disease of myocardial infarction is.

Myocardial infarction, also known as myocardial infarction, refers to myocardial necrosis caused by acute, persistent ischemia and hypoxia (coronary artery insufficiency); it refers to the interruption of blood flow in the coronary arteries on the basis of coronary artery lesions, which causes severe and persistent acute ischemia of the corresponding myocardium, ultimately leading to ischemic necrosis of the myocardium; patients with acute myocardial infarction often have persistent severe pain behind the sternum, fever, increased white blood cell count, elevated serum myocardial enzymes, and a series of characteristic changes in the electrocardiogram reflecting acute myocardial injury, ischemia and necrosis, and may also experience arrhythmia, shock and heart failure. It is a severe type of coronary heart disease and may be complicated by complications such as arrhythmia, shock or heart failure, which are often life-threatening. This disease is most common in Europe and the United States, with approximately 1.5 million people suffering from myocardial infarction each year in the United States. China has shown a clear upward trend in recent years, with at least 500,000 new cases each year and at least 2 million current patients.

Myocardial infarction (MI) is a disease caused by coronary atherosclerosis, which leads to thrombosis and blockage of coronary artery branches, resulting in loss of blood supply and necrosis of part of the myocardium. It usually occurs after middle age. When the disease occurs, there are severe and persistent symptoms similar to angina pectoris, such as chest pain, palpitations, shortness of breath, weak pulse, low blood pressure, etc. Taking nitroglycerin is ineffective and can have serious consequences. Electrocardiogram and serum enzyme tests are of great value in diagnosis. Immediate monitoring and treatment should be carried out after the onset of the disease. The cause of myocardial infarction is mostly due to coronary atherosclerotic plaques or thrombosis based on them, which causes blockage of the blood vessel lumen. Depending on the cause, pathology, electrocardiogram and clinical symptoms, myocardial infarction can be divided into various types. In addition to the common manifestations mentioned above, each has its own particularities.

More than 90% of myocardial infarctions are caused by thrombosis on the basis of coronary atherosclerotic lesions, less common in coronary artery spasm, and a few are caused by embolism, inflammation, deformity, etc., which cause stenosis and occlusion of the lumen. Severe and persistent myocardial ischemia for more than 1 hour can cause myocardial necrosis. There are often some triggers for myocardial infarction, including overwork, emotional excitement, heavy bleeding, shock, dehydration, surgery or severe arrhythmia.
