Contraindications of massage

Contraindications of massage

Tuina is somewhat similar to massage, both of which involve pressing the acupuncture points of the human body through specific techniques. Not only can it relieve muscle stiffness in the human body, it can even achieve the effect of treating corresponding diseases. If a child at home has symptoms of fever, parents can use pediatric massage to reduce the fever. During the massage process, what precautions do parents need to pay attention to?

1. Pediatric massage is suitable for children aged 0-14 years old, and newborns can also do massage.

2. When doing pediatric massage, you should choose a place that is sheltered from wind, strong light, and with little noise; the room should be kept quiet, tidy, with fresh air and appropriate temperature. After children receive pediatric massage, they should avoid wind and eat raw or cold food.

3. When doing pediatric massage, doctors, pediatric masseurs or parents should keep their hands clean and remove rings, bracelets and other accessories. Nails should be trimmed regularly, and freshly cut nails must be filed flat with a nail file. When doing massage in winter, your hands should be kept warm.

4. If children are too hungry or too full, it will not be conducive to the effectiveness of pediatric massage. When a child is crying, you should first calm the child down and then perform pediatric massage.

5. Children's skin is delicate. Be careful not to scratch the skin during pediatric massage. Massage oil, talcum powder, edible starch and other media can generally be used for pediatric massage to prevent skin damage during massage.

6. The operating sequence of pediatric massage techniques: generally first the head and face, then the upper limbs, then the chest, abdomen, waist and back, and finally the lower limbs; you can also focus on the key points first and then the general points; or focus on the main points first and then the auxiliary points.

Strong stimulation techniques such as "holding, pinching, kneading, and pounding" are generally performed last, except for first aid, to prevent the child from crying and becoming restless, which would affect the progress of treatment.

The duration of pediatric massage techniques should be determined according to the patient's condition and physical constitution, and varies from disease to disease and from person to person. In clinical practice, pushing and kneading are more commonly used, and massage takes a longer time. When using pinching and pressing methods, the techniques should be heavy, few and fast. If you only want to massage the acupoints on one side of the hand, you can massage the left hand regardless of gender.

7. Generally speaking, the total time for a pediatric massage is 20-30 minutes. However, due to different conditions and ages of children, there are certain differences in the number and duration of massage. The patient is old and has a serious condition, so the number of massages is high and the duration is relatively long. On the contrary, the number of times is small and the time is short. Generally, take once a day; in severe cases, take twice a day. For chronic diseases that require long-term treatment, one course of treatment is 7 to 10 days. After one course of treatment, you can rest for a few days before starting the next course of treatment.

Reminder: For pediatric massage, you can perform regular massage once a day or every other day for different systems. When doing health massage, fewer acupoints can be selected than during treatment, the degree of stimulation should be slightly lower, and the time can be kept at about 15 minutes.

8. The basic requirements for pediatric massage techniques are: light, soft, steady and firm.

9. When performing pediatric massage techniques, doctors, pediatric masseurs or parents should pay attention to the child's body position. In principle, it should make the child comfortable and eliminate his or her fear, while also making it easy to operate.

10. Contraindications to pediatric massage include: fractures, traumatic bleeding; skin damage, skin ulcers; burns and scalds; acute and severe infectious diseases; cancer and critical illnesses, etc.

11. It is best to focus on only one problem each time you give your child pediatric massage. If there are too many health care and treatment purposes and the massage points are too complex, it will affect the final effect.

12. When doctors, pediatric masseurs or parents do massage, they must concentrate and focus, that is, "they must be completely kind and compassionate, without any extravagant words or irritability."

13. The last and most important point is to remind you that a clear diagnosis must be made before pediatric massage treatment. If parents or pediatric masseurs are not sure, please send the child to the hospital first! Children's diseases change rapidly and cannot be treated without delay, so please do not be careless.
