Tachycardia after lunch

Tachycardia after lunch

Some friends will experience tachycardia after lunch. The frequency and severity of this symptom depend on the symptom. A normal person may experience an increased heart rate and blood pressure after a meal, but the heart rate is always within 100 beats per minute. If tachycardia occurs frequently after lunch and there is obvious pain, and it exceeds 100 beats per minute, it is recommended to go to the hospital for relevant examinations.

1. The impact of heart rate on the human body

The heart is the driving organ of blood circulation. It is precisely because of the function of the heart's dynamic pump that there is enough blood discharge to ensure that all organs of the body have adequate blood supply. Cardiac output is equal to the product of stroke volume and heart rate.

For normal people, the heart rate fluctuates within a range whether they are working or resting, and the normal cardiac output is maintained due to compensatory adjustments in the stroke volume.

When the patient has obvious myocardial, valvular, pericardial or coronary artery lesions, the heart's reserve function is reduced and it is unable to compensate and regulate the cardiac output to a large extent. Therefore, maintaining normal cardiac output must rely on an increase in heart rate. However, if the heart rate is too fast, the blood volume per stroke will decrease too much, or if the heart rate is slow and the blood volume per stroke does not increase much, it will cause an absolute or relative decrease in cardiac output. Especially when the heart rate is too fast, it will greatly increase myocardial oxygen consumption, which is extremely harmful to the heart itself, and at the same time cannot guarantee the normal blood supply to various organs of the body.

A normal heart alternates between contraction and relaxation, and the blood supply to the ventricles depends mainly on cardiac relaxation. Because the pressure in the left ventricle is higher than the pressure in the aorta during cardiac contraction, the myocardium is in a state of high tension. The blood vessels in the ventricular muscle cannot be filled due to the high pressure in the ventricles, and blood is difficult to perfuse into the small arteries and capillaries in the chambers.

When the heart rate is too fast, the cardiac cycle is significantly shortened, the diastole period is shortened even more significantly, and the time that the arteries and capillaries supplying blood to the left ventricular wall supply blood to the left ventricle is significantly shortened.

In this way, the increased heart rate, on the one hand, significantly increases the myocardial oxygen consumption; on the other hand, it reduces the blood supply to the myocardium, causing myocardial ischemia, which can easily cause angina pectoris and even lead to heart failure.

Furthermore, due to a heart rate that is too fast or too slow, the reduction in cardiac output can cause blood clots to form in the arteries, leading to ischemic changes in the limbs and other parts. A slow heartbeat or heart failure can cause transient cerebral hypoxia and syncope.

In adults, a sinus rhythm greater than 100 beats/min is considered tachycardia, and less than 60 beats/min is considered bradycardia.

2. Causes of arrhythmia

1Organic heart disease.

2Systemic diseases. (Infection, hypoxia, electrolyte imbalance, drug poisoning)

3 Certain systemic diseases. (Hypothyroidism, hyperthyroidism, internal bleeding)

4 Anxiety, excitement, agitation and other emotional instability and movement.
