What is the difference between urine sediment and urine routine test

Urine sediment and urinalysis are both methods used to examine and understand kidney disease. Generally speaking, urine sediment examination is used to find red blood cells, white blood cells and renal tubular epithelial cells, while urinalysis is mainly a way to check for urinary tract infection. Therefore, the purpose of these two examinations is actually different. Therefore, when doing these disease examinations, we must also pay attention to the distinction and treat the disease symptomatically after clarifying the disease.

1. Urine sediment examination is mainly used for diagnosis, to find red blood cells, white blood cells, and some renal tubular epithelial cells, etc. It is mainly used to diagnose kidney diseases. Diapers are mainly used to check bacteria in urine, mainly to check urinary tract infections. The diagnostic purposes are different. Compared with urine sediment, urine sediment is of course more accurate.

2. Urinalysis is a general examination. The cell count is a low-power microscopic examination. A positive urine occult blood test is not necessarily true hematuria. The urine sediment examination is to count the number of red blood cells under a high-power microscope: normal high-power red blood cells are 0-3/HP - more than 3 is microscopic hematuria; normal high-power white blood cells are 0-5/HP - more than 5 is pyuria, which indicates infection.

3. The red blood cell count is 56 (0-20), and the high-power red blood cell count is 10.10 (0-5). This means that the red blood cell count exceeds the standard under both low-power and high-power microscopy examinations, indicating hematuria. When there is a urinary tract infection, there is often an increase in white blood cells.

4. The following situations should be excluded if hematuria occurs:

aUrinary system diseases: such as stones, infection, nephritis, renal vascular disease, tumors, etc.

b. Systemic diseases: such as blood diseases (thrombocytopenic purpura, allergic purpura);

c. Exercise-induced hematuria (hematuria after strenuous exercise); drug-induced hematuria (caused by certain drugs);
