What to do if a centipede bite causes swelling and pain

When we go out for fun, we are easily bitten by mosquitoes. Because mosquitoes carry a large number of viruses, we need to perform emergency treatment correctly after biting the skin. Centipede is an insect that carries poisonous venom. If bitten, the venom will enter our body through the wound, causing symptoms of redness, swelling and pain on the skin. So, what should you do if you get bitten by a centipede and it becomes swollen and painful?

1. Centipede bite. The wound is a pair of small holes, into which venom flows, causing local redness and swelling. The venom of centipedes is acidic and can be neutralized with alkaline liquids. You can immediately rinse with 5-10% baking soda water, soapy water or lime water without iodine. Then apply a concentrated alkaline water or 3% ammonia solution.

2. Centipedes are also called "centipedes" in some places. The bigger the centipede, the more toxic it is, and the more severe the symptoms after being bitten.

The venom of centipedes is acidic and can be neutralized by alkaline liquids. Therefore, after being bitten, immediately rinse the wound with light alkaline water, soapy water, or lime water, and then apply concentrated alkaline water or 3% ammonia water. If the pain is still not relieved, take painkillers and snake medicine tablets.

3. Clinical manifestations: Small centipede bites only cause local redness, swelling and pain. Tropical large centipede bites can cause lymphangitis and tissue necrosis, and sometimes purpura of the entire limb. Some may experience systemic symptoms such as headache, fever, dizziness, nausea, vomiting, and even slurred speech, convulsions, and coma.

Emergency treatment: After being bitten by a centipede, clean the wound immediately with alkaline soapy water (do not use soap), lime water, etc., apply cold wet compresses to the wound locally, or apply mashed Houttuynia cordata or dandelion externally. If you have systemic symptoms, go to the hospital immediately.

After being bitten by a centipede, there are two situations: 1. There is a little skin allergy at the bite site, but it will be fine afterwards; 2. Dizziness, tinnitus, and even vomiting may occur after the bite, which is a sign of poisoning. The situation will be more serious for people with poor physical fitness;

Analysis: Situation 1 is that the wound caused by the centipede bite is relatively minor and has not reached the level of poisoning. In addition, the individual's immunity is relatively strong, which has eliminated the toxin. Situation 2 is that the individual's immunity is relatively poor and the bite is relatively serious, so the toxin enters the body and causes poisoning.

After being bitten, you can use alkaline soapy water (do not use soap), soda water, 3% ammonia water, 4% sodium bicarbonate, etc. to clean the wound, and use iodine or alcohol for disinfection. The venom can be sucked out with cupping or a breast pump. If there is snake medicine. Dissolve it in warm water and apply it on the wound. Myrrh can be applied with brewed cold tea leaves (alkaline).

Rescue method:

1. Wash the stomach with 2% to 3% sodium bicarbonate solution, and then take activated carbon or universal antidote to absorb toxins.

2. Intravenous infusion of 5% glucose saline or 10% glucose solution. And add vitamin C, etc. If anaphylactic shock occurs, hydrocortisone can be added to the infusion and administered intravenously.

3. Epinephrine can be injected subcutaneously or intravenously as appropriate. Antihistamines such as promethazine can also be injected intramuscularly.

4. When breathing becomes difficult, respiratory stimulants such as nikethamine can be used.

5. Take an appropriate amount of tea leaves and soak them in water and drink frequently.

6. Add 120g of phoenix tail grass, 90g of honeysuckle, and 60g of licorice to 1000ml of water, boil until 250ml, and take it orally once, 2 doses per day.

7. When the pulse is slow and breathing is difficult, use 9g of ginseng (pre-decocted), 12g of aconite, 9g of schisandra, and 9g of licorice, decoct them in water twice, combine them together, and take them twice, with an interval of 4 hours between each dose, for 2 to 4 doses in succession.
