Do you often have nosebleeds due to thin nasal mucosa?

Do you often have nosebleeds due to thin nasal mucosa?

The nasal mucosa and capillaries in the nasal cavity are very fragile, but many people have the habit of picking their noses with their hands, which often causes some damage to the nasal mucosa and capillaries. When the nose is subjected to some external force, nosebleeds will occur. If the nose bleeds frequently, you must change the habit, find out the cause of the nosebleed, and avoid causing greater damage to the nose.

Do you often have nosebleeds due to thin nasal mucosa?

The tiny blood vessels in the nasal mucosa are densely distributed, very sensitive and fragile, and can easily rupture and cause bleeding.

Causes of Nosebleeds

Traumatic:

Due to local mechanical injury, such as nose picking, nose lifting, nasogastric feeding, foreign objects in the nasal cavity, etc. Skull base fracture causes rupture of the internal carotid artery (via nosebleed). Surgical trauma, such as maxillary sinus lavage, nasal biopsy, turbinate surgery, etc.

Inflammatory:

Acute rhinitis, acute sinusitis, dry rhinitis, atrophic rhinitis, erosion of the nasal septum membrane, stimulation by harmful chemical gases and specific infections such as diphtheria. Hemorrhagic necrotic nasal polyps are a bleeding disorder that mimics a malignant tumor. Pathological examination can confirm it.

Nasal septum diseases:

Nasal septum deviation, perforation, etc.

Nasal and paranasal sinus tumors:

In addition to tumors, it includes nasal septum capillary hemangioma, nasal sinus hemangioma; malignant tumors of the nasal cavity and sinuses, malignant granuloma, etc. Nasopharyngeal tumors:

Nasopharyngeal angiofibroma, nasopharyngeal carcinoma, etc.

Blood disorders:

Leukemia, aplastic anemia, etc. Hypertension, arteriosclerosis.

Increased venous pressure:

Emphysema, cor pulmonale. Deficiency of vitamins E, K, B2 and P.

Poisoning:

Mercury, phosphorus, arsenic, and benzene poisoning.

other:

Acute infectious diseases, endocrine disorders (ectopic menstruation), active rheumatic fever, uremia, sepsis, etc.

Emergency measures for nosebleeds:

1. Push the nostril on the bleeding side towards the bridge of the nose and hold it for 5-10 minutes to stop the bleeding. If bleeding occurs on both sides, pinch both nostrils. After the nosebleed stops, there are often blood clots in the nostrils. Do not rush to get them out. Try to avoid sneezing and rubbing hard to prevent further bleeding.

2. If your left nostril is bleeding, raise your right arm. If your right nostril is bleeding, raise your left arm. The bleeding will stop after a few minutes.

3. Take an appropriate amount of garlic, peel it and mash it into garlic paste. Apply it on the soles of your feet and wrap it with gauze to stop bleeding quickly.

4. Sit on a chair and soak your feet in hot water to stop nosebleeds.

5. You can use tap water or well water (cold water), soak one hand (sprinkle water on your hand), and then pat the back of the neck a few times to stop the bleeding.

Precautions

1. Pay attention to your diet structure, eat less spicy food, and eat more foods containing vitamins C and E, such as green vegetables, cucumbers, tomatoes, etc.; fruits such as apples, mangoes, peaches; and foods such as beans, eggs, and dairy products to strengthen the blood vessel walls, enhance the elasticity of blood vessels, and prevent rupture and bleeding.

2. Avoid actions such as blowing your nose and picking your nose to avoid bleeding due to damage to the blood vessels of the nasal mucosa.

3. Nose massage. For example, gently massage the skin of your nose and face 1-2 times a day with your hands to promote local blood circulation and nutrient supply, especially in winter.
