What is the cause of the pain in the upper back

If you always have back pain, you should pay attention to whether it is caused by cervical spondylosis. Because the incidence of cervical spondylosis is getting higher and higher, it will have various adverse effects on people's daily life. Therefore, you must follow the doctor's treatment and conditioning after clarifying the cause. At the same time, patients should also pay attention to the possibility that it may be caused by rheumatism, or periarthritis of the shoulder and other factors.

1. Back pain caused by cervical spondylosis

How can cervical spondylosis cause back pain when it occurs in the cervical spine? Little do people know that the posterior branches of the spinal nerves of the fourth, fifth and sixth cervical vertebrae extend to the back and control the skin and muscles of the upper back. When degenerative changes occur in the cervical spine, if the posterior branches of the spinal nerves of the fourth, fifth, and sixth cervical vertebrae are pulled, back pain will occur. In fact, neck and back pain, upper limb weakness, numbness of fingers, dizziness, nausea, and even blurred vision and difficulty swallowing are all symptoms of cervical spondylosis.

2. Back pain caused by neck sprain and stiff neck

Due to incorrect movement of our cervical spine or incorrect sleeping posture, the back muscles may be strained, which will cause back pain.

3. Back pain caused by rheumatism

Rheumatism is mostly an autoimmune disease with a hidden and slow onset and a long course. It invades the joints, bones, muscles, blood vessels and related soft tissues, and can cause a certain degree of back pain. The back pain will be aggravated in cool, windy and damp weather.

4. Back pain caused by frozen shoulder

Frozen shoulder can cause shoulder joint pain. As the disease progresses, the pain range will continue to increase, and some patients will experience back pain.

5. Back pain caused by ankylosing spondylitis

Patients with ankylosing spondylitis will experience chronic generalized or persistent low back pain, tenderness over the spinous processes, stiffness in the back and waist after waking up in the morning, aggravated pain in the back and waist when leaning back, improvement after activity, and easy fatigue after standing or walking for a long time. Patients often present with limited movement of the lower back and waist. Physical examination may reveal tenderness of the lumbar spinous processes and paraspinal muscle spasms. In the later stages, muscle atrophy and even hunchback deformity may occur.
