Itching on both sides of scrotum

Itching on both sides of scrotum

Many women have gynecological diseases. Similarly, men also have andrological diseases. Perineal itching is one of the most common andrological diseases. The clinical manifestations of scrotal itching are mostly extreme itching in the scrotum area, and in severe cases, peeling may occur. Therefore, patients with scrotal itching must pay attention to regular cleaning, maintain clean hygiene, and change underwear frequently. The following is a detailed introduction to the causes of scrotal itching.

Scrotal pruritus (pruritus scroti) is a very common presentation, especially in young men. The causes of scrotal itching are quite complex, including both internal and external factors. Scrotal itching is generally caused by scrotal eczema, allergic dermatitis, scabies, etc. People with allergic constitution, long-term mental stress and large mood swings are prone to this disease.

Common causes

High temperature and humidity in the genitals, riboflavin deficiency, scrotal fungal infection, scrotal eczema, allergic constitution, mental stress, etc.

Causes and common diseases

1. High temperature and humidity in the genitals

It is more common in manual laborers, especially in summer, when the genitals are hot, sweaty, humid, and breathable. The scrotal skin is affected by sweat immersion and friction from underwear, causing itching. Wearing overly tight jeans or non-absorbent, non-breathable nylon underwear can also cause itching.

2. Riboflavin (vitamin B2) deficiency

Can cause scrotitis. The scrotum may present with changes such as erythema, dryness, scaling, papules and crusting, accompanied by itching. At the same time, angular cheilitis, glossitis and oral ulcers may also occur.

3. Inflammation

Scrotal inflammation caused by fungi, such as candidal scrotal inflammation and tinea cruris involving the scrotum, can cause scrotal itching.

4. Other diseases

Neurodermatitis, allergic dermatitis, scabies, eczema, etc. in the scrotal area can all cause itching.

5. Internal and external factors

People with allergic constitution, those who are under long-term mental stress and have large mood swings are prone to this disease; in addition, people with certain diseases, such as chronic digestive system diseases, gastrointestinal dysfunction, endocrine disorders, and metabolic disorders, are also prone to this disease under the influence of external factors.

Differential Diagnosis

1. Scrotal swelling

It refers to the lesions of the scrotal skin and its contents (the tunica testis, epididymis and spermatic cord), or the descent of abdominal contents (ascites and viscera) into the scrotum, causing the scrotal volume to increase.

2. Scrotal eczema

Small white bumps on the scrotum may be an important symptom of scrotal eczema, which is the most common type of eczema and is limited to the scrotal skin, sometimes extending to the area around the anus, and in a few cases to the penis. This disease causes severe itching, the rash is polymorphic, and it is prone to recurrence. It can be treated. To achieve the goal of cure, individuals need to pay attention to hygiene, insist on taking medication, and avoid infecting family members.

3. Scrotal swelling

Orchitis and epididymitis are common causes of scrotal swelling. There are often acute attacks of fever, acute swelling and pain of the epididymis and testicles, which later turn into chronic symptoms, followed by heavy pain, which is sometimes light and sometimes heavy. Sometimes the patient can feel a small painful nodule in the scrotum.
