Can compound benzoic acid tincture cure onychomycosis?

Among modern diseases, infectious diseases are the most harmful. Among them, onychomycosis is an infectious disease that everyone hates. It has a great impact on the appearance of people's nails. Severe onychomycosis can also cause symptoms such as nail deformation and falling off. Therefore, it is very important to treat onychomycosis. There are many drugs for treating onychomycosis, among which compound benzoic acid tincture is a commonly used one. Let's take a look at whether compound benzoic acid tincture can cure onychomycosis?

Compound benzoic acid tincture is a compound preparation, the main ingredients of which are benzoic acid, salicylic acid and iodine. It is suitable for use in treating general fungal skin infections.

Onychomycosis, also known as onychomycosis and onychomycosis, can occur on both fingernails and toenails, but is more common on toenails and occurs more often in adults. The pathogenic fungi include dermatophytes, Candida and non-dermatophyte fungi. Fungi that colonize on the nail plate and under the nail enter the nail plate to grow and reproduce after the nail is slightly injured. On the one hand, they use the nail tissue as a source of nutrition, and on the other hand, they destroy the normal structure of the nail, causing various subjective and objective nail damages. Family history, humid environment, malnutrition, and low immunity are susceptibility factors. Trauma, especially improper manicure, use of public manicure tools, and wearing public slippers can cause the disease.

The benzoic acid contained in compound benzoic acid tincture is a commonly used disinfectant and preservative, which has a good killing effect on common bacteria and fungi; salicylic acid is widely used in exfoliating skin care products, is a commonly used keratin dissolving and softening agent, and has antibacterial and antipruritic effects; iodine is a bactericide and is a commonly used disinfectant. Benzoic acid, salicylic acid, and iodine have a synergistic effect when prepared in a specific proportion and can effectively treat fungal skin infections. Therefore, from the perspective of scope of application, compound benzoic acid tincture can be used to treat onychomycosis. However, since the onset site of onychomycosis is under the nail, the effect of the medication may be slow. However, as long as the continued infection of the fungus is suppressed first, the patient can continue to take the medication, thereby increasing the probability of curing the onychomycosis.

When using, first soak the diseased nail in warm water. After about 5 minutes, when the nail is softened, use scissors to cut or scrape off the removable diseased nail, and then spray the medicine. Use it several times a day, pay attention to personal hygiene, and keep the medication area dry, and you will see certain results. If you feel unwell, stop taking the medication.
