When it comes to ulcer diseases, people generally think of many ulcers on the human body, such as oral ulcers, genital ulcers and intestinal ulcers. In fact, ulcer diseases can also occur in plants. For example, people who grow tomatoes all year round may have encountered tomatoes that can cause diseases. Therefore, preventive measures should be taken in daily life. The following introduces the treatment methods for tomato ulcers. How to treat tomato canker? Ulcer disease is a bacterial disease. It is recommended to use copper preparations for prevention and treatment. General Badun (lemon copper, copper amine) is a better choice for the treatment of ulcer disease. Canker damages leaves In the early stage of the disease, the upper leaves of the plant droop and wilt, as if they are lacking water. Unlike bacterial wilt and fusarium wilt, wilt develops very slowly, and it usually takes one or two months from the onset of wilt to the death of the plant. Afterwards, the leaves gradually wilt from top to bottom until the whole plant dies. Tomato canker can occur from seedlings to fruiting stages. The seedlings become infected starting from the leaf margins, gradually wilting from the bottom to the top. Some develop ulcer-like sunken streaks on the hypocotyl or outside the petiole, and the plants become dwarfed or die. When adult plants are infected, the pathogen quickly spreads in the phloem and pith, and the lower leaves begin to wilt or curl, as if due to lack of water; the inside of the stem turns brown and spreads upward and downward, and the length can increase from one node to several nodes. In the later stage, cavities of varying lengths are produced, and finally they sink or crack. The stem becomes slightly thicker and grows many adventitious roots. When it rains a lot or the humidity is high, bacterial pus overflows from the diseased stems and petioles or attaches to them, forming a white substance. In the later stage, the stem turns brown and even hollow, and finally the whole plant dies, and the top leaves become green and withered. The fruit stalk is usually damaged by the extension of the stem, and brown rot occurs in the phloem and pith, which may extend into the fruit, causing the young fruit to shrink, stagnate, become deformed, and the seeds to be infected. Sometimes it causes local infection, with necrotic spots on the surface of the sepals and slightly raised white dots visible on the fruit surface. A single spot is about 3 mm in diameter, with a brown corky protrusion in the center, called bird's eye spot, which is a specific symptom of diseased fruit. Chemical control: Remove diseased plants in time when they are found, and spray the whole field with 77% cypermethrin wettable powder, 50% copper succinate wettable powder, 60% DTM, streptomycin sulfate and 72% agricultural streptomycin sulfate soluble powder. |
