How long does it take for a broken palm to heal

Fractures are very common in life. Don't be anxious after a fracture occurs. Don't move the fracture site at will to avoid causing other bone problems. Wait for doctor treatment. Palm fractures are more common among women. Women are prone to such situations when doing housework. How long will it take for a palm fracture to heal? This type of fracture will not take too long to heal, but it also needs to be differentiated according to the condition of the disease.

Non-displaced stable metacarpal and phalangeal fractures. Mild active activities can be performed after 10 to 14 days of external fixation. For non-displaced intra-articular fractures, when you start to move after 2 weeks of immobilization, it is best to closely observe the flatness of the joint surface through regular X-ray examinations. After stable phalanx fractures and dislocations are restored to their original position, they should be immobilized for 2 weeks.

It is mostly caused by direct violence such as blow or crush injury, and may be a single or multiple metacarpal fractures. The most common fracture types are transverse and comminuted fractures, while oblique or spiral fractures may also occur due to torsion and indirect violence. Treatment requires both adequate fixation and appropriate early movement, which is conducive to the recovery of hand function.

Metacarpal fractures and unstable phalanx fractures should be fixed for 3 weeks. Within 2-3 weeks after external fixation, pinch the fracture site of the affected finger with the healthy hand and perform active motion. For those who undergo open reduction and internal fixation, if the internal fixation is strong and stable, external fixation is not required after the operation. Otherwise, external fixation is performed for 1-2 weeks. Patients with combined carpometacarpal joint fracture and dislocation often require surgical reduction, while patients with simple metacarpal base fracture without obvious displacement only need external fixation with a brace for 4 weeks.
