Which side should the eggs be placed facing up?

Eggs are a very common food in our daily life. They are eaten every day in many families. Eggs are rich in nutrients. Eating eggs regularly has many benefits for body development, beauty and moisturizing the skin. Generally speaking, many people will buy a lot of eggs at one time and keep them at home so that they can take a few whenever they want to eat. So how do people place the eggs when storing them?

The big end of the egg is facing upwards

Experts say that the egg white of fresh eggs is thick, but as the storage time increases and the external temperature changes, the mucin contained in the egg white will gradually dehydrate and become thinner under the action of protease, causing the egg white to become unbalanced and lose its function of fixing the yolk. Since the specific gravity of egg yolk is smaller than that of egg white, it is best to store the eggs upright with the big end facing up and the small end facing down. Even if the egg white becomes thinner, the yolk will not stick to the skin quickly. This can not only prevent microorganisms from invading the yolk, but also help ensure the quality of eggs.

Pay attention to isolation

Fresh eggs are alive and need to breathe constantly through the pores on the eggshell, so they have the function of absorbing odors. If eggs are mixed with foods with bad odors such as garlic and leeks during storage, they will have an unpleasant smell, affecting their eating experience. Therefore, when storing eggs, care should be taken to separate them from other foods.

Do not store sealed

Relevant experts believe that some people think eggs are dirty and seal them in plastic boxes to "isolate" them, which is wrong. Because eggs also need to "breathe" during the storage process and evaporate water. If they are stored in plastic boxes, which are not airtight and have a humid environment, the protective film on the outside of the eggshell will dissolve and lose its protective effect, accelerating the deterioration of the eggs. Please be careful.

No need to wash before storage

Eggs cannot be washed with water. The protective film on the outside of the eggshell is water-soluble, and washing with water will destroy the protective film. You can buy clean eggs or ordinary eggs and store them separately in the refrigerator to avoid cross contamination.

Store at normal temperature for about 10 days in summer

Experts say that eggs can be stored for 40 days at a temperature of 2 to 5°C, about 15 days indoors in winter, and about 10 days at room temperature indoors in summer. When eggs exceed their shelf life, their freshness and nutritional value will be affected. Reminder everyone: Don’t buy too many eggs at one time, just buy enough for a week.
