Why do I become bald

Why do I become bald

It is not uncommon to see bald people in daily life. A large proportion of these people are middle-aged and elderly people, and some are young people. Why does baldness occur? Some baldness is caused by genetic factors, while others are caused by diseases. Many people do have no hair at all when they are young, but after middle age, their hair falls out faster and faster, leading to baldness. Let me tell you what kind of people are prone to baldness.

1. What kind of people are prone to baldness

Baldness means "a large amount of hair loss on the head". The growth, dormancy and shedding of hair is an endless cycle. If your hair falls out faster than it grows, you may be suffering from male pattern baldness, commonly known as male pattern baldness.

The average human hair has 100,000 strands. If less than 100 strands of hair fall out each day, it is considered normal and is physiological hair loss. Common pathological hair loss includes seborrheic alopecia, male pattern baldness, alopecia areata and scarring alopecia. Alopecia areata is commonly known as "ghost hair loss". It is related to genetic, immune and neuroendocrine changes.

A type of hair loss related to factors such as hair loss, there is no inflammation in the hair loss area, no subjective symptoms, and in severe cases, complete baldness may occur. Patients with alopecia areata often suddenly develop circular areas of hair loss the size of a fingernail or a coin on their heads. The areas have clear boundaries, varying numbers and sizes, and the hair at the edges of the areas is loose and easy to pull out. If alopecia areata symptoms continue to progress, all the hair will fall out, which is called alopecia totalis. If the hair, eyelashes, eyebrows, armpit hair, pubic hair, body hair, beard, etc. all fall off, it is called alopecia universalis.

Mental stress and emotional factors have a greater impact on alopecia areata. Some scholars have pointed out that 23% of patients have a history of mental trauma or anxiety before the onset of the disease, and another 63% of patients have manifestations of neurosis. People with alopecia areata are often nervous and in a bad mood. When they encounter negative life events such as the college entrance examination, fights, traffic accidents, and death of loved ones, they may suffer from neurasthenia, excessive fatigue, frequent dreams at night, and lack of sleep. Most of them also have personality traits such as irritable temper, stubborn character, unstable emotions, and stubborn attitude. They are often competitive, impatient for success, or prone to sulking.

The occurrence of this disease may be that mental factors cause the body's stress response, which affects the body's internal environment balance through a series of changes in the nervous, endocrine and immune systems, leading to pathological hair loss. Marital breakdown, unemployment or other blows can serve as a stressor that can affect people's mental health and cause psychological trauma. Based on genetic and immune factors, psychological trauma can lead to pathological hair loss. This is why people who suffer from blows are prone to alopecia areata.

Therefore, the treatment of baldness requires not only medication but also psychological treatment. Timely implementation of long-term mental and physical health care, psychological counseling, crisis intervention and treatment services for people who are frustrated or suffer disasters in life will have a positive impact on improving their health level. At the same time, patients should pay attention to psychological adjustment, maintain psychological balance, be in a good mood, combine work and rest, pay attention to controlling their emotions, and not lose their temper easily. For those with obvious depression and anxiety, they can take some antidepressants and anti-anxiety drugs under the guidance of a doctor.
