Gum recession and enlarged gaps between teeth

Gum recession and enlarged gaps between teeth

In daily life, people usually do not pay attention to the care of their teeth. We often use our teeth to bite the caps of wine bottles, which can cause great harm to our teeth. We should go to the hospital for dental care regularly and not wait until our teeth hurt before going for maintenance. Gum recession is usually caused by periodontitis, which will cause the gaps between teeth to become larger. So in daily life, how should we deal with such a problem? Let’s talk about it below.

Steps and methods:

1. The root cause of gum atrophy and enlarged gaps between front teeth is that gum atrophy must be treated first. Gum atrophy is not atrophy without reason. Oral diseases must be treated, such as periodontitis, gum inflammation caused by poor oral hygiene, and oral ulcers.

2 Secondly, you need to change your brushing habits. In the past, you always brushed your teeth horizontally, or brushed your teeth hard, and the toothbrush was too hard. These may cause gum atrophy and larger gaps between teeth. Now you brush vertically. If the gap is too big, you can get braces or tooth inlay surgery.

3. The health of teeth can affect the whole body. Toothache often triggers migraine, and long-term periodontal disease may also cause heart-related diseases. Therefore, it is important to ensure normal rest, clean your mouth at least twice a day, supplement your teeth with nutrients in time, and go for regular dental check-ups.

Gingival atrophy is mainly caused by the presence of foreign matter in the gingival margin that has not been cleaned for a long time, resulting in long-term bacterial proliferation and stimulation; in addition, atrophy will occur to a greater or lesser extent with age. Then there are the sequelae of improper dental surgery. Keeping teeth clean is the most effective way to delay gum recession, and regular teeth cleaning is particularly important. Inflammatory gum atrophy is mainly manifested by red, swollen and painful gums, and bleeding is common when brushing teeth. Gum atrophy in the elderly often makes the exposed teeth abnormally sensitive to temperature changes and acidic foods, which hinders eating and reduces the quality of life. Therefore, special attention should be paid to prevention and treatment.

1. Develop good oral hygiene habits. You should choose toothpaste and toothbrush that comply with the recommendations of the National Dental Prevention Organization. Brush your teeth 2-3 times a day, and once before going to bed at night is essential. When you don't have time or it is inconvenient to brush your teeth, you can rinse your mouth instead. In some special occasions, you can rinse your mouth with soup or tea to keep your mouth clean.

2. Prevent and treat inflammatory oral diseases. Periodontitis, dental tartar, oral ulcers, gingivitis, gum abscesses, food impaction and ill-fitting dentures are all causes of gingival recession, so you should go to the hospital for regular check-ups and treatments, and seek consultation on oral self-care knowledge; for gums that have already receded, surgical treatment can also be used.

3. Treat systemic diseases in the elderly that cause gingival atrophy. For example, endocrine disorders can lead to gum atrophy; anemia and vitamin C deficiency can cause bleeding gums; diabetics are prone to oral inflammation; serious diseases such as leukemia can also cause gum atrophy. After the primary disease is cured, gum recession will also improve.

4. Strictly prevent environmental pollution. Poisoning by arsenic, lead, etc. can lead to periodontitis, gingival edema and gingival atrophy, so you should pay attention to the quality of your work and living environment and avoid contact with toxic substances.

5. Diet therapy. Cook lean meat or raw rehmannia with wolfberry, and cook eggs with 15 grams each of cooked rehmannia and ginger. It has a good effect on predicting and treating periodontal disease and can be eaten for a long time.
