Which side is better for sleeping

Which side is better for sleeping

In life, there are always some people who have their own sleeping habits. If they don’t sleep in their usual sleeping position, it will be difficult to fall asleep. Some people like to sleep on their backs, some people like to sleep on their sides, and some people like to sleep on their stomachs. So if you sleep on your side, which side is better for your body?

For a long time, many people have the habit of sleeping on their side. This formed habit is not so easy to change. So, which side is more suitable? Let’s analyze it today.

First of all, from the perspective of the heart, the heart is on the left side, so you can’t sleep on your left side, otherwise it will compress the heart? Many people firmly believe in this statement. Many people think that sleeping on the right side is the best position to reduce heart pressure. Because the heart is on the left side, it is said that sleeping on the left side will put pressure on the heart, which sounds reasonable.

What is the truth? Studies have found that people turn over about twenty times during sleep on average, so it is very difficult to maintain the same sleeping position all night. Even for people who like to sleep in a certain position, it is impossible to maintain the same sleeping position all night. There are many people who sleep on their left side, on their backs, or curled up, but no one has ever had problems with heart compression due to sleeping position. Most of what we hear are rumors.

In fact, sleeping on the left side will put pressure on the heart, but this only happens to a small number of people with heart problems. For ordinary people, whether they sleep on the left side or the right side, there will be no pressure on the heart. I have never heard of anyone having heart problems due to sleeping posture.

Whether it is the heart or other internal organs in our body, most of them are firmly surrounded and supported by our ribs. The body's protective measures for us are still very adequate.

For healthy people, sleeping supinely is actually in line with our sleeping habits, provided that we do not put our hands on our chest, as this will affect our breathing and easily cause nightmares.

Lying flat can relieve the pressure on our spine during the day and is very helpful for relaxing the body. But as I said before, it is difficult for us to ensure what sleeping position we are in during sleep. Worrying about how to sleep well will often make us sleep more uncomfortably.

Regarding sleeping position, cardiologists suggest that we don't need to worry too much about it. The best sleeping position is to sleep in the most comfortable way. However, for some strange sleeping positions that are really not good for our health, such as curling up or sleeping on your stomach, it is best to correct them.

For some people with heart failure, it is indeed not recommended to sleep on the left side. The heart function of people with heart failure is not very good. When sleeping on the left side, the amount of blood returning to the heart will increase, and the load on the heart may also increase, causing symptoms that make the body uncomfortable. However, for healthy people, there is no such concern at all.

For pregnant mothers, it is clinically recommended to sleep on the left side. This can reduce the pressure on the body, improve edema during pregnancy, and is very beneficial to the blood supply to the fetus.

The answer is very obvious, and it still depends on personal habits, so don’t worry about whether you lean to the left or the right. As long as your loved one is by your side, no matter which side you lean to, it is the happy and healthy side.
