The left side of my head sweats but the right side doesn't

The left side of my head sweats but the right side doesn't. I wonder if you have ever encountered this problem? In fact, some people's sympathetic nerve trunks are prone to uneven sweating on the head. Generally speaking, problems with the sympathetic trunk are most likely caused by trauma. If there is no trauma, the patient can check whether it is cervical compression that causes sweating on the left side of the head but not on the right side.

The sympathetic trunk refers to the primary neurons that go to the ganglia beside the spine and the paravertebral ganglia for exchange. The neurotransmitter it uses is acetylcholine (the same as the parasympathetic nerves). These ganglia are interconnected into trunks called "sympathetic trunks". Postganglionic neurons continue to transmit signals to target organs using the neurotransmitter norepinephrine. However, some sympathetic nerve fibers leave the sympathetic trunk without changing nerves and reach the prevertebral ganglia of the aorta or the paravertebral ganglia of the innervated organs.

Under normal circumstances, the sympathetic and parasympathetic nerves of the human body, which have opposite functions, are in a state of mutual balance and restraint. When the body is in a state of tense activity, sympathetic nervous activity plays a major role. The primary preganglionic neurons of the sympathetic nerves are located in the thoracolumbar region of the spinal cord. Sympathetic function is mediated in part by higher centers such as the hypothalamus, brainstem, and reticular formation, which send nerve impulses to the sympathetic preganglionic neurons.

The sympathetic nervous system is part of the autonomic nervous system. It consists of the central part, sympathetic trunk, ganglia, nerves and plexuses. The central part is located in the lateral corners of the gray matter of the entire length of the thoracic spinal cord and the 1st to 3rd lumbar spinal segments. The sympathetic trunk is located on both sides of the spine and is composed of sympathetic trunk ganglia and interganglionic branches. It can be divided into five parts: cervical, thoracic, lumbar, sacral and coccygeal. Regulates the activity of the heart and other internal organs. The sympathetic nervous system has a wide range of activities. Stimulating the sympathetic nerves can cause contraction of blood vessels in the abdominal viscera and skin endings, strengthening and accelerating the heartbeat, dilating the pupils, reducing the secretion of digestive glands, and increasing the working capacity of tired muscles. The activity of the sympathetic nervous system mainly ensures the physiological needs of the human body when it is in a state of tension. Under normal circumstances, the sympathetic and parasympathetic nerves of the human body, which have opposite functions, are in a state of mutual balance and restraint. When the body is in a state of tense activity, sympathetic nervous activity plays a major role.
