What are the common eye diseases?

Eyes are the windows to the soul. Eyes are very important in the human body. If there is a problem with your eyes, it is often a big problem that requires immediate action. In fact, there are many diseases of the eyes. Although these diseases sometimes do not affect the eyes' ability to see things, they may cause big problems if you do not pay attention. So what are the common eye diseases?

1. Chronic conjunctivitis

Chronic conjunctivitis is a common eye disease caused by inflammation of the conjunctiva.

Tips for dealing with it: Avoid overusing your eyes and blink more often. Change the habit of rubbing your eyes frequently and pay attention to eye hygiene.

2. Bloodshot whites of eyes

Bloodshot whites of the eyes may be a sign of acute hemorrhagic conjunctivitis.

Tips for coping: Apply cold or hot compresses to the eyes during the first two days of bleeding. Use eye drops that have vasoconstrictor effects. Keep bowel movements regular.

3. Dry eyes

Common symptoms include eye fatigue, foreign body sensation, dryness, burning eyes and blurred vision. The causes of dry eyes include lack of moisture in the lipid layer of the eyeball or dysfunction of the meibomian glands.

Tips for coping: People with meibomian gland inflammation should use hot compresses, massage and scrubbing to clean the eyelids. Apply antibiotic eye drops and hormone eye drops topically, and add artificial tears if the symptoms are severe.

4. Eyelid edema in the morning

In most cases, puffy eyes are caused by drinking too much water before going to bed the night before.

Tips for coping: Drink less water within 3 hours before going to bed and try to have a light dinner; moderate massage can accelerate blood circulation in the skin around the eyes and reduce eye swelling.

5. Stye

It is medically called "stye". The main symptom is inflammation caused by blockage of the meibomian gland opening, resulting in eye abscesses, redness, swelling and pain around the eyes. Another similar chalazion is caused by a chalazion of the chalazion gland and does not suppurate.

A good way to deal with it: first apply hot compress to the eyes, then put in anti-inflammatory eye drops. After 1-2 weeks, an abscess will form and yellow spots will appear, and the stye will burst on its own. If a chalazion is diagnosed, surgery is recommended.

6. Visual fatigue

When working on a computer for a long time, the number of times you blink will decrease a lot. The eyeballs lack the nourishment of tears, and the fatigue of the ciliary muscles will become more and more intense. This muscle fatigue and tension must be relieved by rest.

Tips for dealing with this problem: You should take a 10-15 minute break after every hour of work to avoid overstraining your eyes. Looking into the distance can relax the ciliary muscles and relieve eye fatigue. Doing eye exercises and massaging the acupoints around the eyes are also good ways to relieve visual fatigue.

7. Dark circles

Dark circles may also be caused by genetics. Over time, wrinkles and bags under the eyes will appear.

How to deal with it: Do more eye massages on a daily basis to improve blood circulation in the eyes. Make your work and rest schedule more regular and get enough sleep.
