Why does the flesh turn white after being scalded?

In our daily lives, we come into contact with various things with relatively high temperatures, such as fire, pots, boiling water, etc. If we are not careful, we can easily get burned or scalded. After being burned or scalded, our skin will show some phenomena. Some will become red and swollen, and blisters will appear. Some very serious ones will even turn black and burnt. However, some will turn white after being burned. Many people will have questions about this phenomenon. Let’s understand with me what is going on.

Burns can be divided into degrees. The lightest burn only damages the surface of the skin, causing mild local redness and swelling, no blisters, and obvious pain. Moderate burns not only damage the epidermis, but also the middle layer of the skin, causing blisters and obvious pain. Third-degree burns are the most serious burns, in which the subcutaneous tissue, fat, and muscles are all damaged, and the skin appears gray or reddish-brown, and may even turn black and burnt. At this time, due to nerve damage, you may not feel pain.

Why does the flesh turn white after being burned?

1. The tissue structure of the skin is relatively complex. The outermost layer of skin that feels hard is called the dermis. Under the dermis are layers of skin and other tissues. Burns or scalds will damage the dermis to a certain extent. The dermis will slowly grow new flesh over time, and the color of the new flesh will definitely be different from the previous skin.

2. New tissue grows from the scar. Because the new tissue grows without being exposed to ultraviolet rays, the skin color is very white. To the naked eye, it forms a sharp contrast with the surrounding skin. This is a normal phenomenon, which also proves that the wound tissue is developing in a good direction.

3. After the new white flesh tissue grows out, the problem everyone will face is that there will be scar hyperplasia, or the scar will become very itchy. In order to prevent scar hyperplasia, we must massage with a certain intensity at a fixed time every day to prevent the scar tissue from continuing to grow outward. In addition, essential oil massage can also relieve the symptoms of scar itching.

During the recovery period of scar tissue, we also need to make special improvements in our eating habits. Friends who like to eat heavy flavors must pay attention. Avoid eating very spicy peppers and soy sauce and other foods during the scar recovery period. These foods will make the healing of scar tissue unsatisfactory. In addition, we also need to supplement more vitamins, rich in various fruits. These vitamin-rich fruits can accelerate the growth of skin tissue and make the skin smoother and whiter.

Guidance:

For burns, the main thing is to prevent inflammation.

1. Immediately rinse with plenty of cold water when you get burned to prevent blisters. If blisters already exist, it is best not to break them to prevent dirt from getting in and causing inflammation.

2. Clean with hydrogen peroxide and then disinfect with iodine.

3. Apply anti-inflammatory plaster or burn plaster to the wound.

4. Bandage the wound with sterile gauze.

5. In severe cases, you can take anti-inflammatory drugs orally for a few days. You can take painkillers for pain.

6. First, rinse the wound with tap water, mainly to reduce the temperature. If there are blisters, see if they are broken, apply burn ointment in time, and bandage for protection.

How to treat burns:

[Symptomatic treatment]

1. For first-degree burns, you should immediately take off your clothes and socks, soak the undamaged wound in cold water for half an hour, and then apply sesame oil or vegetable oil to the wound.

2. For large blisters caused by second-degree burns, you can use a sterilized needle to puncture the edge of the blister to drain the water, apply burn ointment and bandage it with appropriate tightness.

3. For third degree burns, cover the wound with a clean cloth and rush to the hospital immediately. Do not apply gentian violet or ointment on the wound, as this will affect the observation and treatment of the disease.

[Surgical treatment]

Severe low-temperature burns with deep wounds are difficult to heal through local dressing methods. Surgical methods must be used to remove necrotic tissue. Depending on the severity of the burn, surgical treatment is required if necessary.
