What should you pay attention to in your diet for proteinuria

Generally speaking, if proteinuria occurs, it is most likely caused by kidney disease. However, not all proteinuria is caused by kidney disease. It may also be caused by other reasons. For example, if proteinuria caused by kidney disease is not treated in time, it will lead to excessive protein content in the human body. The body will have many uncomfortable symptoms, and severe cases may lead to the occurrence of uremia.

What should proteinuria diet pay attention to?

1. Different standards of protein diet should be adopted according to the type and condition of kidney disease causing proteinuria. For patients with chronic nephritis, it can generally be supplied according to normal needs, which is 0.8~1.0g/kg per day for adults. You should choose proteins with high physiological value, such as eggs, milk, fish, lean meat, etc. For patients with nephrotic syndrome without renal impairment, a high-protein diet can be provided, with 1.5-2.0 g/kg of protein per day for adults, and high-quality protein can be provided. For those with increased plasma urea nitrogen, a low-protein diet is generally appropriate.

2. Nephrotic syndrome, etc., in addition to the loss of a large amount of protein in the urine, calcium, magnesium, zinc and other minerals bound to the protein are also lost. It is advisable to eat more fresh vegetables and fruits, and supplement calcium-rich foods such as milk and its products, dried shrimps, sesame paste, kelp, fish and green vegetables. Foods rich in magnesium include millet, wheat, barley, meat and animal offal. Foods rich in zinc include millet, wheat, corn flour, cabbage, radish, carrot, eggplant, lentils, pumpkin, etc.

3. Plant protein contains a large amount of purine, which can increase the burden on the kidney's intermediate metabolism, so it should be used less. Among them, soybeans and soy products, although high in protein content, should be avoided by people with proteinuria due to the above reasons.

Does proteinuria always have foam?

If it is proteinuria, there will be foam every time you urinate. If there is foam sometimes and not sometimes, this condition is probably not a pathological condition. If there are no other abnormal symptoms in the body, you can ignore the foam that appears sometimes. Of course, if you are very worried, you can go to the hospital for a urine test and judge your health status based on specific indicators.

Sometimes, even if you are healthy, you cannot avoid excreting foamy urine, because urine contains organic and inorganic substances, which will increase the tension of urine and easily produce foam when urinating. Sometimes it is also related to the angle and speed of urination and the diet in daily life. So considering various factors, it is very normal for urine to have foam sometimes.
