In addition, ginger leaves are warm in nature and are hot foods. In the hot summer, people are prone to dry mouth, sore throat, and sweating. You should not eat too much at this time! The medicinal value of ginger leaves can be used in combination with other Chinese herbal medicines. If you need to use it as medicine, follow the doctor's advice.

4. Ginger stem

The ginger stem is the knotted, fleshy, light brown tuber you find at your local market. Because it grows underground, it is often called ginger root. Technically, the rhizome is the underground part of the stem, and the true root extends from the rhizome knot. Above ground, the ginger plant is a 30 cm long stem with slender, ribbed green leaves and white or pale yellow-green flowers.

You can buy fresh ginger roots and use a handful to make tea, or crush the cleaned, unpeeled tubers and put half a teaspoon into hot water, or pour about 500 ml of boiling water on about 30 grams of ginger slices. The tea should be soaked for more than 15 minutes and drink two cups a day. Another way to make ginger is to candied ginger. Don't be fooled by its sugar coating, its efficacy and taste are quite good.

How to make it depends on your personal preference and needs. Generally speaking, you should not eat more than 2-4 grams of ginger per day, and you can also take ginger from your diet (such as ginger wine, gingerbread or as a condiment in dishes). If you use fresh ginger, you should weigh the ginger block first to know how heavy 2-4 grams of ginger is.

For nausea or indigestion, you should eat 2-4 grams of ginger root (0.25-1 gram of root powder) or drink 1.5-3 ml of ginger wine every day. To treat vomiting, you can take 1 gram of ginger powder (1/2 teaspoon) or an equal amount of ginger every 4 hours, or take capsules three times a day, two capsules each time (equivalent to 1 gram). You can also chew 7 grams of fresh ginger slices directly.

For fever and colds accompanied by sore throat, menstrual cramps or headaches, soak two tablespoons of grated fresh ginger in boiling water and take two to three times a day, or take a drop of ginger oil or a few slices of fresh ginger, add water to steam, and then inhale the steam.

If you want to relieve joint pain, you can squeeze fresh ginger juice and take 2-4 grams of it with tea every day; you can also massage your joints with ginger oil, or apply hot compresses to the painful areas with fresh ginger roots.

Some women use ginger to relieve morning sickness, but this practice is controversial. To be safe, don't use more than the recommended amount. But ginger is not dangerous when used in a normal diet.

Do not take ginger if you have gallstones. Generally, taking ginger does not cause side effects, but taking too much may cause mild heartburn.

If you are taking heart medication or anticoagulant (blood thinning) medications such as warfarin (warfarin neutralized with sodium hydroxide), or medications to control blood sugar levels, and you are considering using ginger as a preventive for motion sickness, vertigo, migraines, abdominal cramps, or arthritis.
