What are the benefits of washing wounds with salt water

Everyone knows that salt is indispensable in diet. Without salt, even the most delicious food will become dull. And everyone only knows the role of salt in diet. But salt water also has other functions. What we are talking about here is physiological saline. Salt water itself has the effect of disinfection, sterilization and anti-inflammation. Especially for infected wounds, they can be cleaned with salt water, which can effectively remove surface secretions and necrotic tissue. So what other benefits does salt water have?

When you're out camping or hiking, it's inevitable that you'll experience some scrapes, so it's worth learning some techniques for cleaning them. Using water directly will not do any good, but salt water is a good way to soothe and prevent infection in wounds.

Making a salt water solution

Start a fire and place a pot on it.

Pour in clean water and heat. Be careful not to let the water escape.

Remove the pot from the water before it boils, then add the salt and baking soda. Stir well and dilute thoroughly. The solution looked slightly opaque.

After cooling to room temperature, pour the solution into a plastic storage box. You will need at least 8 ounces of saline solution.

Application solution

Add some solution to an eye dropper and drip into the wound as needed. Don't worry about dripping too much. Use as much as necessary to ensure the wound is thoroughly cleaned and the bleeding has stopped.

Clean the wound gently with gauze. This helps absorb the saline solution.

Seal the brine well so you can use it later.

Dress the wound when necessary and re-clean and re-dress the wound as needed.

You will be making a 1% saline solution. Care should be taken not to allow the water to boil, as this will make the brine too concentrated. Although it can be used to clean wounds, it is too irritating. This homemade solution is not suitable for any purpose other than cleaning wounds.
