When it comes to rabies vaccination, everyone is familiar with it. Many parents will raise some small animals to accompany their children, but sometimes accidents may happen. For example, the small animals will bite the children or scratch the children when they are frightened. In this case, parents will take their children to get rabies vaccination to prevent their children from contracting rabies. Many people don’t know what to do if they are bitten again after getting the rabies vaccine. Let’s learn about it together~ 1. What should I do if I am bitten again during rabies vaccination? After the rabies vaccine is fully injected, the rabies antibodies in the body will be effective for half a year, or 6 months. Therefore, if you are bitten again during the rabies vaccination period, you do not need to get the rabies vaccine again. You only need to complete the original five injections. Generally, a large amount of antibodies will be produced after the second injection, which can fight against the invasion of rabies virus. 2. If you are bitten again during rabies vaccination, treat the wound promptly If you are bitten again during the rabies vaccination period, you must treat the wound in time, the sooner the better. If you are bitten by a healthy dog, immediately clean the wound thoroughly with plenty of soapy water to avoid inflammation. If the wound is deep, you must insert a syringe into the wound to irrigate and clean it, then disinfect and rub it with 75% ethanol to be thorough and remove as much cat or dog saliva as possible. If bitten by a rabid or suspected rabid dog, two booster doses of rabies vaccine should be given within 0-7 days. 3. What to do if you are bitten again after getting rabies vaccine Rabies vaccine is not a lifelong vaccine. The effective protection period is 6 months from the last injection. If you are bitten again within 6 months after receiving the rabies vaccine, you do not need to get the vaccine. If you are bitten again more than 6 months after getting the rabies vaccine, you still need to get the rabies vaccine again, which means you need to start getting 5 shots of rabies vaccine again. In addition to cleaning and disinfecting the wound in time, you also need to go to the epidemic prevention station immediately to get the rabies vaccine. 4. Rabies vaccine validity period The immunity of human rabies vaccine is effective for 6 months after the production of antibodies. These 6 months mean that if you are bitten by a dog again within 6 months after the injection, you do not need to be vaccinated. If you are bitten by a healthy dog during the period of rabies vaccination or within 6 months after the production of anti-rabies antibodies through vaccination testing, you can immediately wash the wound thoroughly with plenty of soapy water without the need for vaccination. If you are bitten by a rabies dog or a suspected rabies dog, you should receive two shots of vaccine on days 0 and 7. |
