When fresh bamboo shoots grow in large quantities, many people will buy a lot of bamboo shoots and take them home. At this time, they are usually pickled or made into dried bamboo shoots. Fresh bamboo shoots will quickly lose moisture in their natural state, which greatly affects the taste when eaten. Therefore, when preserving fresh bamboo shoots, you can wrap them with plastic wrap and put them in the refrigerator.

How to preserve fresh bamboo shoots in the refrigerator? You can keep fresh bamboo shoots in the refrigerator for up to five or six days. If you want to keep them for a longer time, you can blanch the bamboo shoots in water, then put them in the freezer, and then cook them when you want to eat them. Whether the bamboo shoots are refrigerated or frozen in the refrigerator, the taste of the bamboo shoots will be affected. Bamboo shoots are easier to store because they are protected by shells. If you don’t eat it after buying it, you can put it in a ventilated, dry and cool place. It will not deteriorate within a week. You can also peel the bamboo shoots and put them in the refrigerator, or cook them whole and freeze them so they can be stored longer. Sand: Take waste wood (red box can) or worn iron (wood) barrel, store wet sand 2-3 inches thick at the bottom, arrange the complete shoots upturned in one box (barrel) and wet sand, then put another part (stick to almost degree) shoot into solid, bury the shoot 2-3 inches with wet sand, then put the box (barrel) in a dark, well-ventilated place. In this way, storage lasts 30 - 50 days. It can last for more than two months, and bamboo shoots are better kept fresh.

Sealed storage method: Take a bottle or pot or jar with a mouth, put the bamboo shoots without damaged leaves into it and cover the mouth with a double layer of plastic film to tie it tightly, or take a sealed plastic bag and shoot the bamboo shoots tightly after loading. This method can also last for 20-30 days. Steaming method: Wash and peel the winter bamboo shoots, remove half and a large part, steam them in a steamer or put in a basin of water, cook until they are 50% to 60% cooked, then pick them up, spread them in a basket, hang them in a ventilated place, and they can be kept fresh for 1-2 weeks. This method is suitable for preserving damaged winter bamboo shoots or bamboo shoots that are to be eaten in the near future.

How to store bamboo shoots for the longest time and how to keep them fresh after picking them? I will tell you the best way, which is also a traditional way. Use a large container to hold some dry fine sand, then bury the bamboo shoots with the skin on deeply in it, and then spray a small amount of water on it to lock in the moisture. But there must not be too much water, otherwise it will easily rot. This method can generally be preserved for about half a month. Of course, if you must use the refrigerator, it is recommended to freeze it, but after peeling off the skin, leave a few layers of skin and then reshape it when you want to eat it. How to peel bamboo shoots: First, cut off the tail of the bamboo shoots with a knife. Hold the bamboo shoots in your left hand with the big end on top. Take the knife in your right hand and cut the skin of the bamboo shoots from top to bottom. Be careful not to use too much force, just cut through all the skin. Put down the knife, and use both hands to stretch along the cut to both sides. All the skin will be taken off at once, without having to peel it layer by layer.
