A large part of colds are caused by not taking proper measures to keep warm, especially in spring and autumn when the temperature difference between day and night is often particularly large. Be sure to pay attention to the weather forecast in a timely manner and be prepared to add or remove clothes.

It is also important to note that some people work in a poorly ventilated environment, which can cause them to get sore and uncomfortable with their throats. Therefore, when you are working, especially when the weather is very cold in autumn and winter, do not always close the windows. Open the windows regularly for ventilation to avoid the breeding of germs in the air and causing colds. In addition, you should not work too hard after getting angry. You should pay attention to the combination of work and rest so as not to reduce your resistance.

Five types of diseases can cause sore throat

Most sore throats will disappear automatically within a few days to weeks, but if they persist or worsen within a few days, you need to go to the ENT department for examination and treatment in time. Because, if left untreated for a long time, the disease may lead to rheumatic fever, which can damage the heart and kidneys. In daily life, the following diseases often cause sore throat, and patients with ENT must pay attention.

1. Influenza

Winter colds are mostly caused by viruses. Once they spread to the throat, acute health problems such as sore throat will occur. Patients often have dry and sore throats and constant coughs. Antiviral drugs can be used for active treatment.

2. Acute pharyngitis

Acute pharyngitis is one of the common diseases of the pharynx. It is sometimes a part of acute upper respiratory tract infection and exists at the same time as acute tonsillitis, acute rhinitis, and acute laryngitis. Sometimes acute pharyngitis is a prodromal symptom of certain acute infectious diseases, such as measles, whooping cough, scarlet fever, etc. The main clinical manifestations are dryness, burning sensation and slight pain in the throat, followed by aggravated pain. The pain worsens when swallowing, and is often accompanied by general discomfort, chills, fever, headache and sore limbs. During examination, the throat is congested or has sticky secretions, the cervical lymph nodes are tender, and the white blood cell count is increased.

3. Peritonsillar abscess

Most peritonsillar abscesses are secondary to acute tonsillitis, especially those with recurrent chronic tonsillitis. Its symptoms are similar to those of acute tonsillitis, but are more severe. Throat pain is limited to one side, the pain worsens when swallowing, and radiates to the ear on the same side. After the abscess is formed, systemic and local symptoms worsen, throat pain worsens, swallowing becomes difficult, speech becomes slurred, mouth opening becomes difficult, and even teeth become clenched. The patient presented with an acute illness, with the head tilted to the affected side, limited neck movement, and enlarged and tender lymph nodes below the affected side.

4. Acute tonsillitis

Acute tonsillitis is a common disease with symptoms varying in severity, including general malaise, chills, fever, headache, aches and pains in the limbs, sore throat, and swollen and painful lymph nodes below the neck. Examination may reveal pharyngeal congestion, red and swollen tonsils, or purulent secretions on the surface, tenderness of cervical lymph nodes, sometimes complicated by peritonsillitis or abscess, or acute rheumatic fever, myocarditis, nephritis and arthritis.

5. Acute laryngitis

Acute laryngitis is an acute inflammation of the laryngeal mucosa and is one of the common acute infectious diseases of the respiratory tract. The main symptoms are hoarseness, coughing, dyspnea, and sore throat when speaking and coughing. Adults have mild systemic symptoms, with no fever or low fever.
