Which part of the stomach is the pylorus

Gastrointestinal health is a very important part of the human body. It has a great impact on the overall health of the body. It can be said to be an extremely critical part. There are many gastrointestinal tissue structures. Among them, the pylorus is a very important tissue on the stomach and intestines. It plays a very important role in the normal operation of gastrointestinal function. Let’s take a look at which part of the stomach the pylorus is? I hope everyone can understand it.

Pylorus: The part that connects the stomach and duodenum. It is surrounded by thick circular muscles and contains glands that secrete mucous protein, which protects the gastric mucosa from being scratched by rough food and eroded by gastric acid.

Pylori-related diseases

Pyloric obstruction: refers to the obstruction of gastric contents from being discharged through the pylorus. It can be divided into two types: functional and organic. The former is mostly due to edema of the pyloric mucosa; the latter is mostly due to scar formation of peptic ulcer. The main clinical manifestations are nausea and vomiting, and the vomitus is undigested or overnight food. Barium meal X-ray and gastroscopy can make the diagnosis. Functional obstruction is mainly treated with internal medicine, while organic obstruction often requires surgical treatment. A group of symptoms caused by spasm of the pyloric sphincter. Due to pyloric stenosis, obstruction or duodenal ulcer, the clinical manifestations are: upper abdominal discomfort, vomiting, gastric dilatation and peristaltic waveforms can be seen in the upper and middle abdomen, and there are often splashing sounds. Treatment is directed at the cause.

Pyloric obstruction is a group of symptoms caused by obstruction of the pyloric passage. Etiology and clinical practice: ① During the treatment period of ulcer, pyloric spasm and edema cause obstruction, which are called spasmodic pyloric obstruction and edematous pyloric obstruction respectively; this type of obstruction is temporary and may disappear as the ulcer improves. It is effectively treated with medical treatment and is also called medical type pyloric obstruction. ② The obstruction caused by healing of ulcer scar is called scar pyloric obstruction. It is permanent and is an absolute indication for surgical treatment. It is also called organic or surgical pyloric obstruction. The diagnosis can be confirmed based on a long-term history of ulcer disease and typical symptoms of gastric retention (such as vomiting of old food, upper abdominal gastric shape and gurgling sounds, etc.). Gastrointestinal decompression was performed 5 to 7 days before surgery, and gastric lavage was performed with warm saline every day. The surgical method is still selected according to the surgical principles of ulcer disease. 90% of the patients were satisfied with the treatment after surgery. It often occurs in duodenal ulcer disease, followed by pyloric canal or prepyloric ulcer. The clinical manifestations are upper abdominal distension and discomfort, which worsens after meals and leads to anorexia; frequent vomiting, after which the upper abdominal distension symptoms may be temporarily relieved, and the vomitus often contains food residues and has a sour and smelly smell; there is a sound of water shaking in the stomach when the patient is empty. Medical treatment of this disease is not easy to be effective and surgical treatment is often required.
