Is the warm baby harmful to the body?

The temperature is low in winter, and people's bodies will endure the test of severe cold. The improvement of modern living standards has enabled people to have enough supplies to keep out the cold, and many warming gadgets have been invented to bring some warmth to everyone. For example, a hot pack is a warming tool made of chemical substances. However, is using a hot pack harmful to the body? Let’s take a look at the explanation below.

What makes the hot pack heat up are the raw materials inside, synthetic polymers such as activated carbon, iron powder, water, and inorganic salts. When the gelatin layer is torn off, the above-mentioned polymer reacts with the oxygen in the air to produce a heat reaction.

Most people will not have any adverse reactions when using a warm baby. The warm baby can provide heat to the body. When applied to the shoulders, waist, knees, etc., it can also relieve the cold and aging of the joints. However, there are the following precautions:

Diabetics, children and the elderly should use heat packs with caution, because diabetic patients have reduced sensation in the extremities, and children and the elderly are also insensitive, making them prone to low-temperature burns. Most of the patients scalded by heat packs are elderly people, and most of them have not carefully read the instructions and precautions before use. The maximum heating temperature of the hot pack can reach 66°C, and it can release heat evenly for 12 hours. Therefore, it is strictly forbidden to stick the hot pack directly on the skin, nor is it suitable to be stuck on thin clothes. It should not be used while sleeping. When using it, it is best to check your skin every hour. If you find any erythema or other discomfort, stop using it immediately.

How to prevent low temperature burns?

Heat is transferred through the blood. If excessive pressure is applied to the part of the body where the heating pad is placed, it will affect the blood circulation, causing the heating pad to become too hot and cause low-temperature burns.

1. Avoid applying pressure to the area where the heating pad is placed.

2. Avoid placing the heating pad on the same part for a long time.

3. If you feel the heating pad is too hot, please move it to a different part of your body.
