Long-term smoking will not only damage the lungs, but the brain will also gradually decline due to the stimulation of nicotine, which will in turn affect brain activity. If you can quit smoking by yourself, never smoke again, otherwise it will be even more difficult to quit.

The reason why smoking is so addictive is that the nicotine in tobacco reaches the brain within 7 seconds after being inhaled into the human body, promoting the brain to secrete dopamine and bind to the nicotine receptors in the brain.

As the smoking time increases, the more nicotine is inhaled, the more nicotine receptors are produced in the brain, and the greater the body's demand for nicotine. On the contrary, after stopping nicotine intake, the nicotine receptors in the brain will gradually decrease and degenerate, thereby reducing the body's demand for nicotine accordingly until it disappears. Nicotine receptors do not disappear completely; once nicotine is inhaled again, the receptors become active again. Therefore, those who quit smoking should be careful not to smoke again, otherwise it will cause stronger tobacco dependence.

The harm caused to relapse smokers is very serious, even more harmful to the human body than before quitting smoking. People who smoke again after quitting are more vulnerable to the toxic substances in the smoke. Relapsers are more likely to become addicted than other smokers. After relapse, they inhale more cigarettes and each puff is deeper. The impact on the body is self-evident. Therefore, once smokers quit smoking, they must firmly resist the temptation of cigarettes and quit smoking completely. Otherwise, if they start smoking again in the middle of quitting smoking, the harm to human health will be more serious.
