How many days can a person live without drinking water

We all know that water is the source of life. It is said that people can survive for a long time without eating, but they cannot survive without drinking water. So even though water resources in the world are extremely scarce now, people are still working hard to explore new resources and find water resources. So how many days can a person survive without drinking water? Let’s take a closer look at it!

Modern medical research shows that a person can only survive for up to seven days if they are hungry. If you don't eat for 3 days or don't drink water for 7 days, you will face the threat of death. Throughout history, there have been people in China and abroad who have claimed that they could go on a hunger strike for a long time. These people have all been proven to be liars, lunatics, or people with psychological disorders (anorexia nervosa), and some have even paid the price with their lives for it. For example, in the 19th century in the Welsh countryside of England, a girl named Sarah Jacobs claimed that she had not eaten or drunk for 16 months and still remained healthy, which caused a sensation. Some skeptical doctors kept her under close surveillance 24 hours a day. Ten days later, Jacob died of starvation.

In 1948, a peasant girl named Yang Mei from Qiaotouba Village, Shizhu County, Sichuan Province was said to have "not eaten for nine years but still lived". The Chongqing Health Bureau observed her for three weeks and confirmed this to be true. The Kuomintang's official news agency, Central News Agency, issued a press release "confirming that she did not eat", which became a major international news. In response to the doubts and requests of scientists and doctors, the Health Bureau conducted more stringent tests on Yang Mei and sent people to monitor her secretly. They finally discovered that "Yang Mei used her intelligence and extremely agile methods to steal food."

If a person does not replenish nutrition (food) or drink water, under normal environmental conditions, the life span is 72 hours (three days). If it exceeds 72 hours, the person's life will be in danger. If there is water but no food, the person can survive for seven days, and eight days will be the limit of the person's life. If there is food but no water, it depends on what kind of food it is and how much water it contains. There is a kind of monkey in the Sahara Desert that does not drink water, and can replenish the water in its body by eating only leaves and wild fruits.
