What variety of cherry is good

Big cherries are on the market in spring. Many people like to eat them. They taste sweet and sour and have high nutritional value. In particular, they are rich in iron, which has a certain blood-enriching effect. There are also many varieties of cherries. Currently, there are more than 200 varieties of cherries, which are divided into three varieties: early, mid and late. The ones we usually eat are Red Lantern, Early Ruby, Daihong Big Cherries, etc. Let's take a look at this aspect.

1. Red Light

The most common early-maturing cherry variety on the market, with medium to large fruits, usually matures in mid-to-late May. The fruit is pink or bright red in color, with hard flesh and high juice content, suitable for people who prefer sweet and sour taste.

2. Early Ruby

Small fruit, medium firm. An early maturing variety, maturing at the same time as Red Light. The fruit is bright red in color and tastes very sweet with almost no sourness. Suitable for customers who prefer sweet to sour and can’t wait for the delicious food.

3. Meizao

The "noble" cherry has large, hard fruits. The variety that is closest to cherries is also the most expensive. The fruit is large, sweet and juicy, dark purple when ripe, and can be stored well. Suitable for high-end customers who love sweets.

4. Daihong cherry

Daihong is an early-maturing sweet cherry variety with the largest fruit. Daihong was bred by Shandong Agricultural University. , up to 14.2 grams. The fruit is round and heart-shaped, with a regular shape, neat and beautiful appearance, and there are very few deformed fruits. The fruit stalk is short, with an average stalk length of 2.24 cm. The peel is bright red to purple-red, shiny and colorful, the flesh is pink, purple-red near the core, semi-hard, and sweet.

5. Early and large fruit

A sweet cherry variety introduced from Ukraine in 1997. The fruit is large and nearly round. The fruit is dark red, and turns purple-black when fully ripe, bright and shiny. The flesh is relatively hard. The fruit development period is about 35 days, and it is an early-maturing variety.

6. Qinying No. 1

Qinying No. 1 is a cherry variety bred by Northwest Agriculture and Forestry University. It was approved by Shaanxi Provincial Forestry Variety Approval Committee in December 2005. It has the characteristics of early maturity, good quality, early fruiting and compact crown. It is suitable for planting in northern my country and high-altitude areas in the south.

7. Brooks

Brooks cherry fruits are oblate and large in size, with an average single fruit weight of 9.4 g and a maximum single fruit weight of 13.0 g. The fruit skin is deep red with a light yellow base and a glossy luster (Plate 2). The fruit top is flat and slightly concave. The fruit stalk is short and thick, with an average length of 3.1 cm, similar to the red lantern, and is a short-stalked variety. The flesh is purple-red, thick and has a small core, with an edible rate of 96.10%. The meat is crisp and hard, with a total hardness (including skin) of 199.7 g/mm2, which is 2.3 times that of red light. It is rich in juice and extremely sweet in flavor. The sugar content is 17.00%, which is 60% higher than that of Red Light on average; the acid content is 0.97%, which is 28% lower than that of Red Light on average; the sugar-acid ratio is 17.5, which is 2.2 times that of Red Light. It is resistant to storage and transportation, and can be stored at 0~5℃ for more than 30 days without changing its flavor.

8. Early Birth

Early compact van is commonly known as the early maturing "pioneer". Originated from Canada. The average fruit weight is 8 grams, and the large fruit weighs 12 grams. The fruits are uniform in size and kidney-shaped, with orange-red skin, hard and crisp flesh and delicious taste. The fruit stalk is short and dark green. The fruit cracks easily when it rains and is resistant to storage and transportation. This variety has medium tree vigor, compact shape, many branches, large number of flowers, early fruiting and high yield. It matures 4-6 days earlier than Pioneer. Suitable pollination varieties include Bingku, Steinle, Rabins, etc.

9. Zhifu Red

The fruit is large, with an average single fruit weight of 8.1 grams and the largest weighing 9.5 grams. The fruit is broadly heart-shaped, with a flat top and distinct, even suture lines. The fruit stalk is long and thick, not easy to separate from the fruit, and the fruit falls lightly before harvesting. The fruit skin is bright red and shiny. The flesh is light red, hard, juicy, sweet and sour, contains 16.9% soluble solids, and has excellent flavor quality. The peel is not easy to peel off. The core is smaller and the edible part is 93.3%. It matures earlier, 3 to 5 days later than Da Zi, and matures at the same time as Hong Deng. It can usually be harvested from late May to early June. The fruit matures at a relatively consistent period and can generally be harvested in 2 to 3 times. This variety is cross-fertile, so when establishing a garden, varieties such as Red Lantern, Naong, Crystal, Steiner, and Binku need to be configured as pollination trees.

10. Fortune

'Fuchen' is a new sweet cherry variety bred by the Fruit Science Research Branch of Yantai Academy of Agricultural Sciences. The parents are 'Samituo' and 'Hongdeng'. Passed expert acceptance in June 2012. The fruit is bright red and heart-shaped, with one side of the suture line being flatter, similar to the mother variety 'Samituo', but with a flatter top; the flesh is light red, hard and crisp; the fruit is large, with an average single fruit weight of 9.7 g, and in some years 11.2 g; the edible rate is 93.2%. The soluble content is 15.5%, and the flowering rate in the second year is as high as 72%. The pollinating trees are: Bula, Hongdeng, and Mei Zao. The fruit flesh is hard and crisp, of excellent quality, and is resistant to storage and transportation.
