Today, the editor will show you these two diseases that cause swelling of the right chin so that you can treat them accordingly.

1. Mumps

The parotid gland is the largest of the salivary glands and is located on both sides of the cheeks near the earlobes. Parotid gland enlargement is centered on the earlobes and can be on one side or both sides. The causes of the disease include infectious, immune, obstructive and unexplained inflammatory swelling. The most common cause of mumps is infection, which is mostly bacterial and viral. The main symptoms of bacterial mumps are fever, local redness, swelling, heat and pain in the parotid gland, increased white blood cell count, and the lesion entering the purulent stage. When the parotid gland is squeezed, pus can be seen flowing out of the catheter orifice. Viral mumps, the most common of which is epidemic mumps, can also be caused by other viral infections. Mumps is a respiratory infectious disease caused by mumps virus infection. It is characterized by non-purulent swelling of the parotid gland and can invade various glandular tissues or the nervous system and almost all organs such as the liver, kidneys, heart, and joints. It can often cause complications such as meningoencephalitis, orchitis, oophoritis, pancreatitis, etc. The patient can acquire lasting immunity after the illness.

2. Lymphadenitis

Lymphadenitis is a nonspecific inflammation caused by acute or chronic inflammation of the drainage area of the lymph nodes. For example, infection of the upper limbs, breasts, chest wall, back and abdominal wall above the navel causes axillary lymphadenitis; infection of the lower limbs, abdominal wall below the navel, perineum and buttocks can cause inguinal lymphadenitis; infection of the head, face, mouth, neck and shoulders causes submandibular and cervical lymphadenitis.

Depending on the onset and duration of the disease, lymphadenitis can be divided into acute and chronic lymphadenitis. It has the characteristics of acute inflammation such as local redness, swelling, heat and pain. The onset is acute and often accompanied by fever. The swollen lymph nodes are soft and tender, with a smooth surface and no adhesion. The swelling stops when it reaches a certain extent. The redness and swelling can subside after timely anti-infection treatment. When the condition worsens, it may also develop into an abscess, accompanied by systemic infection symptoms.
