How to prepare milk powder

How to prepare milk powder

Although many mothers know that breast milk is the best food for babies, due to many factors, some mothers are often unable to breastfeed their babies and can only give them milk powder. For babies, milk powder can replace breast milk, but it is not as convenient as breast milk. For example, there are many things to pay attention to when making milk powder. Only correct preparation of milk powder will be helpful to the health of the baby.

How to prepare milk powder

1. First, add water and adjust the water temperature: 40-60℃. If it is too hot, you can add cool boiled water; if it is too cold, you can add hot water. Do not use boiling water to prepare milk powder, as this will destroy the nutrients in the milk powder.

2. Pour a certain amount of warm boiled water into the bottle, and then adjust the amount of water according to the baby's needs and the scale on the bottle.

3. Then add appropriate proportion of milk powder. Neither too thick nor too thin meets the baby's needs. It is easier to control the amount of milk powder by adding it later, and the concentration of the milk powder prepared is accurate.

Notes on mixing milk

Add milk powder first and then water

Hazards: If you add milk powder first and then water, the actual amount of water will be less than the indicated amount of water for preparing the milk powder, and the accuracy of the preparation concentration cannot be guaranteed. Moreover, the milk powder is more likely to clump, which is not conducive to digestion.

Correction: The correct preparation order should be, according to the preparation ratio marked on the milk powder can, first add warm water to the bottle, and then take an appropriate amount of milk powder and add it to the bottle.

Purified water or mineral water for milk

Hazards: Purified water, like distilled water, does not contain impurities or bacteria, nor does it contain various inorganic salts, and lacks the minerals contained in ordinary tap water. Mineral water, on the contrary, is the opposite of purified water, and the mineral content it contains is high and complex. If these two ingredients are used to prepare milk powder for a long time, it may affect the baby's health.

Correction: It is best to use boiled water that has been purified, boiled, and cooled to an appropriate temperature.

Not paying attention to water temperature

Hazards: It will produce a lot of bubbles in the milk, and babies who drink milk containing a lot of bubbles are prone to bloating, burping, and vomiting.

Correction: The mainstream milk powder products on the market have been inspected by relevant quality inspection departments and do not contain pathogenic bacteria. Therefore, in order to ensure nutrition, the recommended mixing temperature for most milk powders is mostly below 70°C. Different brands of milk powder have different recommended water temperatures, so when you buy a new milk powder, it is best to read the instructions.

Stir with a spoon or shake vigorously up and down

Hazards: Infant formula contains many nutrients with poor heat stability. If you use boiling water at a higher temperature to mix the formula, the nutrients will easily be lost; mixing the formula with cold water can fully dissolve the formula, which can cause serious damage to the baby's intestines.

Correction: After adding water and milk powder in proportion, put on the nipple, hold the bottle tightly with both hands, and roll it back and forth horizontally. Please remember to be gentle!
